i'm convince. i'll get mine this afternoon. :)

Yes, the shots are processed and cropped with ACDSee.
I paid $400 for it @ CP yesterday.
AF speed and sharpness is about the same as the Nikon 70-300 VR.
Not a fast lens but VR works beautifully.
I think is good value for money.
:)

Thanks for the test shots, think i'll be getting it end of this month as well when my salary is in. :)

splendid shots!

have you tried some <low-light> shots with (VR turned on) with this lens?

can show? interested to know how does this lens works in indoor low lights environments...

pogeeako, yUp! you should get one atleast and try the VR. It'll convince you why VR is the way to go. I really really like it so far. Was testing last night with VR on and off.... hhhmmm... sweet. focusing @ 200mm with VR on, you'll think that you have the steadiest hands in the world.

Yes... VR is the way to go... give me an AFS VRII 70-200mm f/4 please ;p

darn! really i must say.. if this comes out... even harder to resist....

lens acquisition syndrome... must fight... must resist.... spirit willing but flesh is weak.

sorry to OT, but just to compare with 18-200, how is it different for the F3.5 of the 18-200 and F4 of the 55-200 under the same focal length? How about in other aspects? Thanks.

Technically, under the same lighting condition, the f4 55-200 will require the shutter speed to be 1/3 stop slower than its f3.5 18-200 counterpart. So, that means the 18-200 will always be 1/3 stop faster than the 55-200. I am not saying that the 1/3 stop is important or not (it is really up to individual), I am just stating the difference.

About the optics, yet to see a proper comparison and review.:)

$400 with GST?

I called them and was quoted $420 with GST. MSC quoted $430 with GST.

I got the same quote from MSC, and got a quote from John 3:16 for $410 inclusive of GST.

From e looks of it...more ppl are interested in 55-200 VR compared to 70-300 VR....

I have an email-quotation from CP.... @ S$399 with GST...
Who want to have this e-quota?

Could you pls forward that quote to me? I'll be getting the lens either tomorrow or the day after....

I bought a couple of things from BargainCity lately and they also quoted me $399 with GST for the 55-200 VR lens. You may probably get a better price if you tell them you were referred by a CS forumer.

No harm trying. ;p

I want the e-quote too, can forward to me?;)

I'm intending to get this great lens after my exams this month!!! Argh...i'm deprived now...stupid exams!

Few more clicks for your comment.
Hope to see some other shots from you guys by this cheapest VR lens.
