to compare from 50mm 1.4, 1.8
but i will perfer to 35mm f/2D.
it's best lens for DX user. the color more heavy then 50mm 1.4 or 1.8.
i'm own 50mm 1.4, but after i try 35mm f2. is more comfortable for me.
i think so, becoz i'm the DX user too.

hi guys and gals,

I am also in the process of deciding between this two lens (sigma 30mm f1.4 and nikkor 35mm f2). I have my tammy 17-50 and i realise most of my shots are done at 30-40mm range. my shots are mainly family outing with indoor activities shot + a bit of low light environment eg. restaurant + wedding/gathering pix.

I am leaning towards the nikkor for the weight and its a nikkor plus it is a FX compatible len. but the f1.4 on the sigma is having a big pull factor for me too.

I am using a d90. Any advice for me??

for D100 and lower, AF 35/2D or non D
for D200 and above AIS 35/1.4

Sigma 30/1.4 got different color tone

The 35mm f1.8's CA problems are usually reduced significantly by the in-camera processers in the newer cameras such as the D300.I bought the 35mm f1.8 and have not looked back at all since it's IQ is so darn good.

getting sidetracked a bit..... what about sigma 20mm, 24mm, 28mm F1.8..... r these still on sale?

All of these are still available but you need to get shops like John 3:16 and MS color to help you order. From what I know, they are very good lenses.

your tammy should served you well for low lights environment. initially i'd considered sigma 30mm f/1.4 BUT because of it weight, i'd decided to get nikkor 35mm f/1.8 (much lighter) :bsmilie:

sorry to dig up this old thread, does anyone has pictures of D40/60/3000/5000 mounted with the Sigma and the Nikkor glass??

how's the accuracy of the Sigma AF like??

The picture (not sure whether the pic can be seen) was taken with Nikkor 35mm f1.8. Its uncropped. No experience with Sigma 30mm f.14 yet, but the Nikkor lens has served me well for most casual small group night indoor shots. :)

Cant see. I think its because that gallery is not under your public gallery.

I took a copy of Nikkor 35mm due to x2.5 price difference vs Sigma 30mm here in SG
and it is a very good lens actually at price range of $300-$350.

Atleast Nikon produced a prime lens at a affordable price.

hmm. I think aside from price issues, i think it has to depend on your usage. if you intend to bring your camera around everywhere, having the sigma is gonna be a burden coz its bigger and heavier. I just got my 35mm a few days back to pair with my d40x and it is really handy and relatively easy to just dump in my bag :)
