thanks bro.. that's dorset's fossil beach. beautifully moody place.. although behind me there are like 10,000 fossil hunters digging up the cliffs. it is a sad thing, at least for me.
no, i did not get any fossils in any of my pictures. frankly speaking, i wasn't expecting to see what i saw at fossil beach. i have certain ideas about conservation, and while it is probably hard to enforce it is much better to try than to just give up. in fact, it seems like fossil hunting and collection is ENCOURAGED, there are even signs on how to liberate the fossils for keepsakes. so what happens is that the cliffs there are eroded even quicker, and hardly anyone gets to see any form of fossilization unless you spend half a day fighting with the droves of tourists armed with spades and shovels.
adam burton has two or more pictures with fossils in there, the jurassic coast has a lot of them; but based on his gallery info it does not seem that he got them at fossil beach. for good reasons, probably. i am still trying to figure out how the postcard people managed to get the shots they got, with like, sprawling rows of fossils lined up on a rock. i am thinking they probably bought a gift slab and placed it there.. lol.
if you do have the time, check out his beautiful dorset pictures. i wish i had more time to catch the golden hours, we missed the sunset on our two day road trip due to convoy style travelling (2 cars).. and the sunrise was dismal.
your school got exchange program? all the exchange students i know seem to spend more time out of school than in.. or having anything to do with school at all, for that matter.
