ahahaha. nope, ngong ping village is at a raised area, so there's this part where the cable cars are really just above you.. maybe around second storey if there's a building there. so if you shoot from a distance it actually looks alright with minimal associated distortion.

anyways, i just emailed you regarding photoaid.

to all the people viewing this thread, thought i'd mention that some of the clubsnappers are conducting some activity to help the people affected by the cyclones in myanmar. if you are free during the weekends as follows;

Weekend One: from 170508 to 180508
Weekend Two: from 240508 to 250508
Weekend Three: from 310508 to 010608

please refer to this thread here and help out for a good cause. you can pm ortega if you wish to help out, or for more information. these people have done this before for tsunami relief in the past. thumbs up to their spirit. this is a thread which tells you slightly more about what is photoaid about. :)

cheers! :)

wah~~ is this HDR? long exposure hdr??
scenery damn impressive over there.

your eye for composition is even more impressive

hi, thanks for the kind comments

this is hdr, yes, but not long exposure. when you have reflections usually do not need long exposure, it means the water is very still. when the water is rough, you will not get this sort of perfect reflection.

yes, some of the places here are beautiful, this is richmond in london, but most of the tourists will never get to see it because it is a little out of the way.

cheers! :)

london - -;;;;; i think i can only go there in like 5 year's time... and maybe can only... all sg has is concrete scenery.

i have a fren studing fine arts over at the university of london. got to know him in NS in changi naval base. forgot his name though. he was tasked to oil paint our camp for our building by our CO. tsk tsk LOL

:nono::nono:

not true, singapore still has a lot of wild parts! :)

in fact, i like singapore's landscapes more than london's. not that london doesn't have any, just that it's different. you feel happier shooting a location you're at home with.

hi...
Just a question....How long have u been taking photos? I mean using your DSLR?

Man..as i look at all the APAD pics...I now realised why not many people commented on my photos. hahaha.....mine lacks of a creativity angle and are quite touristy and amateurish.

How did u learn all these? did u attend any courses or....? i'm utterly amazed, seriously.....amazed!

heh, let's see - i first started the idea of taking up photography as a hobby around nov 2006. got my sony h2 around jan 07, and my k100d around apr 07 (as a sort of self birthday present). :) so i guess you could say maybe 17 months now.

oh, don't say that - everybody has their own point of view and unique way of looking at things - to be honest i don't really think that your photos are "touristy" per se - there is a feel of composition. i think what you have to work on would be the processing workflow - a lighter touch would be better.

no, i haven't attended any courses.. mainly because the ones i want to attend cost a bomb, being here in london. otherwise, most of the basics were gleaned from a lot of photography book reading, and at one point in time i spent all my free time just looking at photographs. :bsmilie:

thanks for the kind comments, bro. cheers!

err....are u singaporean or english?? All along, i thought u are staying in singapore finishing your graduate degree in our local university. HAHAHAHAHA....

Which part of Uk are u in now? I love the UK......great weather...ok, only when it is good and not raining. The cultural attraction has got soooo much more to offer. I just love UK, especially london and brighton. hehe....

Btw, thanks for your encouragement. sincerely appreciated. also....what do u mean when u mentioned my workflow is a little heavy? I've been told that before in my previous pics in cairns but didn't quite understood what they meant. Does heavy workflow means my pic might end up looking like Mayar Iskandar's photos where it's quite high in contrast and he uses a lot of burn and dodge tools in his pic.

Cheers!

singaporean, just that i'm doing my university studies here. :) in london to be exact. central london - yes, the weather now is great, which is actually bad, i haven't touched my camera for a long long time because of exams.

heehhe, yar, i plan to visit brighton soon. also cornwall and lake district. ;) beautiful places!

when i said a little heavy, i meant perhaps too aggressive processing. i'm not really sure how mayar iskandar's shots look like, but heavy pp *can* and *will* work, but only if it doesn't look like you have done it.

that said - there is always room for improvement, i find that my own photos lack a certain mood or are unable to evoke much feeling other than that of perhaps appreciation of a good scene. :dunno:

wah liew.....i'm soooo jealous now....U in london and me in Singapore office....sigh...Somehow, i rather take exams now in london....

Hmm....." only if it doesn't look like you have done it"...err...does infrared pics looks like "i have done it"? and vignetting effect created using PS? and what abt HDR pics which can some can look like drawings?

Hmm...i'm confused...
