Apt Pupil

Ah...nice warm feel.

great shot! :)
thanks keinc :angel:
wow... nice. :thumbsup:

can share your workflow and camera setting for this pic???

Thx!
thanks hohoho32

camera settings was f/5.6, iso 400, shutter speed 1/60 s
taken at 10mm with k100d and sigma 10-20

as for pp workflow, dump picture into photomatix to make hdr from raw, since dynamic range was wider than expected, slight cropping done to exclude distracting details, slight adjustment with shadow/highlight recovery tool , more on highlight recovery, no shadow lifting done i think

applied urban acid action - if you're interested as to where to get it let me know, upped contrast further slightly using curves, apply usm, slight gamma adjustment to make the tones darker, that was it

if you wish to know anything more, feel free to ask, thanks once again for the kind comment.

urban acid action seems to use two things - channel mixer and curves, along with layers (hue/something else, can't remember right now) to "burn" your image and change the color palette somewhat, into a very "grungy" feel

very widely used in portraiture in some places.. as well as old building shots. of course can be used for many other things, as i've found out; just for illustration for the main use that people usually apply it for;

before (still from pride & prejudice.. and of course my favourite actress keira knightley)

what i like about the action is that it allows you to choose the curves applied.. adjust according to taste, and the layers allow you to modify, how heavy the color shift will be, and all saturated they will be, etc.. try it, it's fun!

the highlight recovery tool comes as a set, better known as shadow/highlight in ps cs 2.. can be found under image --> adjustments --> shadow/highlights

be sure as a general rule of thumb to not abuse it.. do not lift shadow by more than 10% at default radius/threshold settings.. do not recover highlights by more than 10% either.. even at 10% you can get visible haloing.. which you should try to avoid if you're trying to present a realistic picture.
