Nicholas68, I can see that you really feel toward you this particular subject matter, and the series. And I shall give what is very rare of me in this forum. My honest opinions. Should you find my comments unpleasant, do PM/SMS me so and I'd withdraw them.

Some shots are interesting, others less so. Seeing the shots in a series tells a lot more rather than as individuals. As a series, the pictures give an glimpse into a very different world, probably one that is alien to most CSers. The idea of the series is a good one. And such ideas are less common to come by, after all, good ideas are far harder to achieve than good technical skills.

What you have got -
- hint of slum tenement (more more, please.... the glue-sniffers)
- the inhabitants
- their lives
- their hardships
- their thoughts (this you need to give more thought on... you can do a lot better)
- documenting your feelings, somewhat
- conditions, homes, "friends"

The blurry images add to the feel of some of your shots. Like the one cutting a 4D scrapbook. The soft one showing the occupant's memories (photos in frames) is another case of soft=better.

However, some of the soft pictures could do with a reshoot (not asking you to go back to the same person, but you can bear it in mind and seize it when the opportunity arises).

Contrary to some opinions, stronger colors may NOT do your images justice. Nor would going B&W for all of them. The same goes for lighting.

What else next? I'd suggest focusing entire on the list above. The one shot of the flats and the hardcourt from the outside is somewhat a spoiler to the series. Look at your entire series and consider which you may want to reshoot (ie look for another opportunity for the same subject matter). Some of the images are really oddball in the collection and you may want to either re-title them, or, re-shoot them.

My sincere apologies for not having spent more time chatting with you yesterday. There is a lot of potential in your series. Let's find a chance to meet up again, I'll share some thoughts in person. Similarly, if you can bring the softcopies, I can show you some approaches to toning the pictures. Lastly, if you'd like, I can bring you to a couple of similar flats elsewhere, and show you what I mean in my points above.

Keep shooting, keep improving.

HI Azure

Your honest comment is what I want. There no point telling people what you shoot is all good good. This will only cause damage to your friend.

I really has to agree that what I am doing is a big aliens to most of the people in this forum. When I meet the people from clubsnap, they really give me a funny look. I always believe how the photography tells you is very important not by writing a essay out for the photography.

I have to honest to you i did not edit any of the photography that I have post. I guess I am to lazy. What you see is what I have taken. Lazy me.

Please do not apologies what you have say is very true and I need comment like yours. If not you will never improve your photography. I do not need people who come in and only say good and good.

Azure pls give me a call if you are free. We can going out for dinner,

some of them have RCs or welfare organisations helping to look after them.. but not all...
i think no matter what, there's still plenty of room for improvement in trying to help them...

Many for the reglious organisition do help to look after the elder and the needy people in the 1 room flat. eg. Emily refer to thread #25. Blk 27 was my first 1 -room that I went to shoot.

As for me I always remember what my Primary School teachear once tells me
"God will only help you if you help yourself."
