And guess wat... I don't even have a blower! :embrass:

So, have anyone here cleaned their own CCD yet? Or have anyone brought their cameras to KM service center for cleaning yet? How long does it take?

Hee... :bsmilie:

TIA!

Hmmm what happene* to Club*nap, all the letter* * [letter between C an* E] an* * [letter between R an* T] are becoming *...

Yup, done it before....Just select clean CCD in menu.. Use blower to blow at ccd to get ride of the dust...To confirm, than use zoom in, F22 to shoot at white paper or wall ... see got black speck bo..

Mr Flare, you need to buy the following item else you will be spending more than you expect.

1) Dry Cabinet
2) Blower
3) 70-200mm SSM APO G len ;p

Happy shopping! ;)

His D7D got a few scratches too. Seem like he need a course on how to handle a DSLR well. ;p

Hahah, I don't baby my equipment one mah.. The scratches on the 7D's from my belt and bags when I side sling my camera.

Actually never notice the dust until I did that moon shot using super tiny aperture...

Oh well, time to go buy a blower.

Too bad I moved else can pass you the blower later. Got OT tonight, need plently of rest, wouldn't be stepping out of the house today. Better get the dry cabinet too else fungus will be looking for your lens soon (Touch Wood)

Ha ha, don't worry, I'm using silica gels for the moment. Must wait till I get some new furniture so that I can make room for the dry cabinet.

Oh yeah, that's probably the reason I've got dust on the CCD, my box can only fit the lens, so i have to remove the lens from the body to store them, and close up the camera with the body cap. I guess i got the dust from a dusty body cap...

How did you clean your lens without a blower?

Lenspen. :bsmilie:
I just use the brush to sweet off particles...

Anyway, my old brower broke a couple of months ago...

Wah, high-tech cleaning.. :bsmilie:

Think I read about it somewhere, the rational is that if you use a blower, the dust will just dislodge from the CCD and likely lie somewhere inside the camera and potentially fall back onto the CCD. A vacum clearner may have a better chance of getting it out of camera totally. But well, don't think i'll try a vacuum cleaner yet. :bsmilie:

Brush off particles with lenspen's brush end, then wipe with the cleaning pad end. So far so good for lens.

Where did you buy it? Can find locally? Anyway, I clean the CCD once with blower so far, luckily can get rid of the dust.

CP, MS colour and even some harvey norman stores has it, comes in different sizes too! Just note that there's also a LCD pen by the same manufacturer, no idea if it's the same as the lens pen, so maybe don't get that for the lens.

Hmmm, I lost the large speck of dust liao, and the samller specks seems to be thrown all over the place by the AS :bsmilie: .

You know maybe they can include a new clean CCD function in the next firmware, I know some had mentioned this on dpreview... Ask user to hold camera without lens, lens mount opening facing down, flip up the mirror, open the shutter and shake to dislodge large particles. tada! Market as a contender of the supersonic dust filter, but then this won't work as well as the movement frequency wouldn't be as high...

Hmmm.. just tot of something, maybe I should go change the focusing screen and at the same time ask the staff to clean for me, anyway, think cleaning ought to be part of the procedure after doing anything with the interior of the camera...

I thought of this as well.. It shouldn't be a problem since the CCD should be shifted using magnetic fields.. Just a matter of programming the movement parts to rapidly shake the CCD I guess..

Maybe you can attach a vibrator (not those from kinky shops although I suppose you could too) to the camera. As for how to get a vibrator?
As my uncle said, smart people who open factories manufacturing motors will also 'manufacture' vibrators. Unbalanced motors function as vibrators.. LOL...

Thanks! I thought have to order from overseas.

I change lens quite frequently, even in the open. Only kenna dust once leh.. may be AS really help a little.

I will be grateful if it just don't attract more dust.. :bsmilie: Anyway, I just try to work normally to see how bad dust problem can be.. just try to clean the chamber more often.

Cheers!
