That would be so incremental and terribly unimpressive and disappointment plus plus plus. I would expect a 14-500mm f1.4 VRIII sub-1kg sub-$1000 compact zoom do-all lens.

Might be the do it all lens for all we know.. The legendary lazy lens 18-300mm F/3.5-F/5.6 VRII.

To be honest, before I started using Nikon DSLR, I never bother to take a look at Nikon Coolpix (or touch them). After following nikon rumor,
I feel there are way too many coolpixes being release ^^"

My theory: for DSLR, they are going after the "I also have" effect. While for compact, they going after the "mine is unique and cooler" effect.

Haha I like the way you describe.

Perhaps the reason for noticing is becos of the disappointments in the previous year waiting for D400 & D800 while seeing many "I'm more unique & cool" cameras getting announced.

Just 21 more days to make decision. Hope D800 is a good one, and, at the very least, allow a mean to boost its FPS..

After seeing what a 24mm F/1.4 can really do, I doubt the F/1.8 can satisfy me

Yes and agreed on that - "be prepared..." thing/s, as through all this years/times and the released of various brands and models of Cam's body, lenses and Speedlite/flash, which of these that does not disappoint any ppl/s at any time - as some will :heart: it to its core while at the very same time, likewise.....there are and will always have ppl/s who dislike it or even hate it to its core, given a/the same item/s=any given piece of equipment/s...:bsmilie:...this is really called 'Individual-Preference/s'!!!

Hence, so long as a cam/lens/flash 7/or etc, genuinely must meet my 'need/s' I'll likely consider buying it...haha...!!! Hahaha...Simply bcos who is gonna make a 100%=Perfect Cam/lens/flash etc...hahaha...!!!!! (...it's a Biz to them/manufactures afterall,.....hope you know what I mean...heehee!!!)

So far:light:based on those available info/details I gather from those sites...I'd likely be buying one as of to-date...until any further "Testing/reviews"...well till then see how it all goes...you see...hmm...!!

Large in size, larger in price, largest for our pocket. Anyway doubt a 24 f/1.8g will materialise. It quite likely nikon will update their AF-D to AF-S /G lenses.

Haiz, I knew Nikon wouldn't come up with a ff 35mm f2 lens as it will steal sales from the 35mm f1.4 lens.
Hope Nikon don't discontinue the 35mm f2 AFD lens.
