TTL is passe. Now manual strobes are the in thing.

BTW it has got ntg to do with how much i make. I spend less on diving (gears + travel) than a lot of u fellas here. It's the person behind the viewfinder that matters.

Mmmm... not really true to many photographers.

Why? in most cases of uw shoots, a good photographer will want his gear to be in a ready state waiting for the perfect split-second moment to snap. Things such as AF hunting, shutter lag, or incorrect strobe intensity adds to chances of screwing up this perfect moment shot. Thus, to me most current prosumer digi cams and manual strobes are not up to task for this purpose.

Of course, manual strobe has it's benefit as well, user will be forced into getting famaliarized with the strobe, also, it may allow more room to play with the light.

yeah yeah.. in fact, kthan encouraged me to get a epoque/sunpak strobe first, play enough with it in macro before i invest in a bigger better strobe, and use the smaller strobe as fill in

*so you selling???* ;)

Maybe I let you guys bid:p

Winnerh takes all.... lol

Agree....

TTL is extremely helpful for macro pictures. Especially for newbies like me, I will need to adjust the strobe angle, play with aperture and shutterspeed, and to adjust the strobes lintensity somemore....

It does explains why you seldom see fish pictures from me.... its almost impossible unless I got lucky during the first shot. Using my outfit without TTL, who is confident of taking pictures like this with your skill level? (shutterlag aside)

PS: This picture wasn't taken by me or using a prosumer camera, I merely state an example.

KC, I'm refering to digital setups, not film.....

You're right, why doesn't it compare....??? Anyone?

For my friend's A75, the macro mode went as close as mind did to subjects. Wide angles? What are the lenses it could accomodate? If i'm not wrong the A95 could be fitted with the INON AD Mount and with a UWL135(?)(165?) semi fish eye lense.

Which will make it quite formidable.

Not sure if it could be fitted with the AD-mount, if so then it could also use INON UCL165 lenses for Macro.

One thing i'd look for in a Digicam would be these accessories actually. Would be a shame if i had to change a camera when i felt like venturing into Wide Angles or Vice Versa for Macro.

Any other comments? Anyone can confirm the AD mount thingy?

Well, for one, A95 is far cheaper than a 5060 and has all the manual & custom modes except that the lens is 35/38mm (not 28mm) and slower (f2.8??).

Think that Inon sells both the AD (bayonet?) and 67mm mounts. In fact, i personally want to check out the Inon mounts to see if I can switch to Inon lenses for my canon. Ease of focusing is impt to me but not sure how it performs in real life....

Yup, I did heard people commenting that Canon consumer and prosumer camera focuses extremely slow, compared to Olympus. A friend of mine just bought a S1 Pro?(the one with 10X zoom I think) recently and was cursing and swearing of the focusing speed.

Yeah, digital is the same as well. Don't forget I shoot digital too.

If i'm not wrong, i think that is because of the focal range of the lense itself. It is like the Olympus C8080 focus lock speed, taking a longer time to lock. My personal experience is that the longer focal range digicams tend to take a longer time to lock.

I tried a C8080 onland, the focus from far to near and vice versa is relative fast leh.... atleast faster than my C5060. Now I am confused... lol....

Eh really???? Eh you pullin my tail izzit??:nono::p

No leh.. i tried on harvey norman a couple of months ago leh. Found that the time to achieve focus lock is longer than the C5060. (My friend was focusing on the same subject as i was.
 now you've got me confused

for digital, u don't get TTL unless u use a FL20 with 5060, digital TTL sensor or have your housing mod for the Oly TTL in Ikelite housing for Ikelite digital strobes.

hence for the rest of Olys, Canons, Sony, Nikons, the strobes are on manual, triggered via optic fibre cables.

Just persuaded a friend to get the Fuji F810 as he uses it for land pics only. The price is $799 at South East Asia in Funan, plus additional battery thrown in. I am eyeing to buy it at 20% discount 2 months down the road.

The E550 is almost the same as the F810, except it uses AA batteries  , USB 1.1 :thumbsd: and made of plastic :dunno: . But at the same price, the cool factor of the F810 wins over. Kng, video is vga at 30fps for both cams.....
