Range from $375-$400.

Use your negotiation skills to get better price!

Sigma 30mm no stocks everywhere. Sigma 19mm quite a lot!

Good price. Thanks.

Most buddies here will likely be buying from Cathay Photo since their price is same whether by cash or credit card. Some shops will charge extra for credit card payment, which you will end up paying more!

Got my SEL50F18 from MSC @ $376.00, very happy with the pictures shot from this len. :)

Not true, when they quoted me, though their prices are more competitive than others, it was indicated that prices offered are based on CASH term.

Got mine yesterday night at SLR at $375 (*pay by cash*) not sure if you can use other mode of payment or not. I still see 1 left on their shelf yesterday :)

Agree that MSC does give very competitive prices but also depends on supply and demand. Prices fluctuates quite abit since Sony hasnt really ramp up the supplies for it. Guess bros here got it at d time when supply was adequate. Congratz bros...

Agree with you bro....
When this lens was just launched in SG and supply was still limited, well known shops like AP, CP, SLR were selling at $390-420....

Not to mention Sony Style still stick to RRP of $449.00... Dunno if it's marketing gimmicks? Restrict supply to justify the price... Just dun agree that this lens is worth $449.00 anyway. $380.00 is a more reasonable price.

Any tips on how to shoot more effectively with this lens? It seems that a reasonable range between object and camera is around 3-5m? Read somewhere that disabling AF illuminator allows faster auto-focus too.

On my NEX7, disabling the AF illuminator definitely makes the AF faster.
In some instances, where previously I could not get a focus lock, I can get it to lock focus without the AF illuminator.

set the focus point to the center,it may be better than having it in tracking focus,

I am not sure if it'll be faster, but worth a try

Kool... I will try in low light situation... ;)

Sony style always sell at rrp ... And supply is low because of production issues plus the popularity of the lens. Don't think marketing is at play here .

Maye sony doesnt see Singapore as a big market so ship less pieces here

should i get da 50mm f1.8 or should i buy the macro 30mm?

Many reviews are positive for the 50mm, but not for the 30mm macro.
For me, the 50mm gets my vote as I'm not into macro...
