NEX 7 or Fuji X-Pro 1

The NEX 7 is now larger, so it looks less unbalanced than the 5 with the lenses and don't forget the LA adapters, which allow you to use native A-mount lenses, such as Carl Zeiss optics on the NEX. The X-Pro 1 has smaller lenses, but I don't think it will ever look balanced like the M43 system. In fact, as the M43 bodies grow, with the OMD and its grips added, the lenses look too small.

For me, NEX is the most flexible system out there. There is now a decent spread of top quality E-mount glass like the 24mm Zeiss, the 50mm 1.8 OSS and the 55-210 zoom. The EA2 system can add PDAF autofocus with native A-mount lenses from UWA to ultra zoom and finally, the peaking focus makes it a snap with other Pentax, Leica, Zeiss manual focus glass. The possibilities are endless and my dry cabinet is now filled with so many brands. The 7 even adds wireless flash possibilities. It's quite fun if you like to experiment like me since different lenses gives you different looks from old classic glass to technically perfect lenses. I can't imagine sticking to a single brand again.

Like me, you are threading on a very dangerous road of no return. The depth of manual focus lenses out there is so huge that 10 dry cabinets will also not be enough. And when you taste Leica glass, it's like Zen. For me, at my age, after so many trials and errors, the closest to my simple taste (Nikon glass on Canon sensor, but if I can afford, Leica), I find the NEX sensor with Nikon glass very close, so I will stay with this combination until I have experienced the other mirrorless. So far, although I like the looks of OMD, I don't like the photos and video coming out of it. Strange, different people seem to percieve different representation of RGB. It's also a good laugh when I read small lenses on large body and vice versa type of discussion. When I was using K5, I loved the balance of the 31 ltd with it and never liked the 43 and 77 as they looked like small heads on large body, how strange. I want to try the NEX 7 because I like to shoot with flash indoor. If you have time, please show us more low ISO photos with your ZM 35f2. I am torn between this and the CV 35f1.2 II. Cheers.

I have ZM 35f2 and CV 35f1.2 ver 1 (sold). In term of experience with both lense on nex7, I feel CV 35f1.2 is too large and heavy for nex7 (weight almost twice against ZM 35f2 and almost 1.5x longer). After a while shooting with it, my hand get tired and feel lazy to shoot. But no doubt CV 35f1.2 is better performance in low light due to big aperture, but I'm prefer to shoot with more balance setup. Makes me a happier person and satisfy with ZM quality. *note: ZM lense change aperture in 1/3 step/click while CV lense in 1/2 step / click

If u shoot more on outdoor daylight, maybe u would like to check up ZM 35f2.8. Read online that it is overall sharper than ZM 35f2 from f4 and above.

Thanks. Wow, the ZM 35f2 aperture change is 1/3 step. I will take a serious look into it as nothing is like actual hands-on experience.

not sure why people think the lens line up is bad for Nex 7.

the problem I have is not enough money to buy the lenses I want. So many to buy going manual. hehe

from what i heard, i think i'll wait for Fuji to up their game in the AF Speed arena and build quality

You didn't try out the xpro -1 at it show ? The built quality matter may be something of preferences . Af and evf are similar to x100 if you have owned one . Wonder will it have the orb issue like the x10 as well. Hopefully not for a premium camera like this .

nope i didn't. i have friends with similar preferences and they all said that i wouldn't like the plasticky feel of the camera. i've played with the X100 and used it before and honestly the AF speed didn't wow me.

though the NEX-7's AF speed isn't something to crow about either, i like the solid feel and compactness of the package, and the peaking along with other features is what drew me more to getting it.

that being said, this doesn't conclude that i won't buy Fujifilm cameras in the future :bsmilie:
