For the 18-55 combination, I bought the Lowepro Cirrius TLZ5. Fits the Nex5 with flash installed perfectly. Of course it will fit the 16mm setup too.

Regardless of whether or not these are demo sets, I managed to stumble across a 16mm at song bros, and used the voucher to buy the lens.

Right thinking. If these are 'demo' sets, then it will dent SONY image. will SONY allows this to happen just for the short term $$$ or violate the trust of the enormous marketing?
I do have to say though, what's the point in demoing items which you have no stocks to sell? I think Sony's image would be affected more by their inability to put out stocks for their products when there is demand rather than their inability to control the retailers into not selling off their demo sets... The set that I bought, by the way, are Sony sealed and comes with a full set of manual and warranty card.Right thinking. In argument against the demo set idea though, wouldn't it be more cost efficient for Sony to send dual lens kits as demo sets for retailers instead of single lenses packed separately?

Or they could wait till aug and launch the nex3/5 when they gave everything in stock and keep consumer like us waiting. Which do u guys prefer?
Sony is kind enough to release early and gave us voucher to purchase the other lens. I think they did right.

I don't think you comprehend. Sony intend to launch the items in Aug but they have an early batch which they distribute to their retailers for them to get a feel of the product. Likely the retailers are asked not to sell them but use them as demo sets so that future buyers can try them out. However, with demand high, some retailers prefer to sell them off rather than put them at the demonstration corner. That's how i was able to get my hands on the 16mm lens.
These sets are actual retail sets.

From what I gather from my dealer (Parisilk), the lenses were not issued to them for demo use. Actual stocks of these lenses and accessories arrived at the same time a couple of weeks back. It was just that stocks of these lenses were limited just like with the hard lcd screen protectors. They had actually restock their lenses from Sony a couple of times already but it was just that each time they were given only a couple of sets.
Also, those lenses eg. the 18-200mm and camera bodies on display at the stores were actually non-functioning dummy items. I was shocked to see the camera bodies being displayed in Parisilk's showcase without body caps ie with the sensors exposed and confirmed with the manager that the camera bodies were just dummies, albeit very realistic looking dummies. He also said that the 18-200mm on display is also a dummy and does not work.

If you bring out everyday (as what NEX is intended), then should not need.
If you dun use it often, then it's good to keep in dry cab.

But you mention in the earlier thread that these are demo sets. This will cause some disturbance to those who have purchased the lense.

No prob bro. That's what I heard from the retailer that sold it to me. The set was intended for demo use but because of some issue I had with them, they agree to let me have it. Anyway, I think the 16mm is much more usable for general use as far as I am concerned. It keeps the camera small making it an ideal PnS

All shop says nex5 1855mm de 49mm dia is not common for cam, more for DVcam.
so alot of them dun carry them.

I also just got mine (original of course) from Parisilk.
For those who are interested, please rush down immediately, seeing that this item is always out of stock everywhere else.
They still have 3 sets left as of this evening. What's more, they don't try to sell above the recommended retail price just because the item is in hot demand and out of stock at most places. :thumbsup:
