I don't mind a fast 17mm prime, really. f2.8 is fine, but I think they can do better.
oooh the 150/f2 is lovely.
can't wait to slap it on the e-5 for a test drive.
Heheh, great minds think alike  I'm arranging for SHG orgy for the hands on.
Would be ideal if the 14-35 and 35-100 would be there too:heart:
The GH2, if the specs are true, is pretty damn close to a pro-spec M4/3 body. If Olympus ups the ante, we will simply see a pro spec GH type camera. Panasonic has already a head start in this as it is, given their determination to push the M4/3 as a video camera platform.
Olympus' weakness has been electronics. They seem great with their image processing, but they have to do better to compete. Panasonic seems quite capable of flexing their muscles, and I expect them to do so again eventually.
But what I really want, is a rangefinder like body, with a built in EVF. Panasonic, please bring that patent to reality.
Half expected this to happen, the portends were there.
The E-5 may not be the last - it's probably the 2nd last, with the last being the replacement for the 620.
The modular system better be something.
(... what am I going to do if the SHGs go on a fire sale, decisions decisions...)
Oh I'm putting aside money for that already.
Was just waiting to see if the Oly compact would be using a 4/3 sensor, it's not so...
There will be support for the cameras, but just in case, I might have to buy the E-5 for the sake of the glass I have now. LOL. Can you imagine that being a reason to buy a camera?
After that I might not be buying Olympus anymore. Unless something dramatic happen to the m43 development. I was hoping to see the SHG lenses being updated, but no. 2010 seems to be the year of demise for the regular 4/3 platform.
Anyway, Pen sells and Pen will replace the E-System as the new direction of Olympus. But I really cannot imagine myself buying a Canon system... ha ha ha...
You have been aiming for the SHG glass for a while now, if there is a sale (most likely some retailers might do that, especially US online retailers, then it is time to pick up one).
SHG glass is nice, but kinda impractical to lug them around.
Unless E-5 + SHG = magic...
Ranting aside.
The current range of lenses are already complete. I don't see a need and neither will I buy primes. So I am happy with the glass I already own... and if Olympus can continue developing camera bodies for the Zuiko Digital lenses, that would keep me happy.
The news is "stopping development" which is fine by me.
I will faint if the statement was "stopping producing".
They will continue to sell the ZD lenses while diverting their attention to the development of M.ZD lenses. That is in dire need.
I've been thinking abt this for a while. As an owner of m43 cam, one main draw is a large sensor in a small body. But now that APS-C sensors with 50% larger area in mirrorless small form factor is out, I wonder what is the main draw of a m43 cam. Regardless of the current quality of those cams, won't u say that their foreseeable future is much brighter than our m43? But I'm not really pro so i may be missing something. Anyone care to fill me in?

To be fair, let's see how NEX will develop over the coming years. Who knows. Only time can tell.
The range of 4/3 lenses is good enough for most ppl here.. i dun see the need for oly to develop more ranges.. anyway i also have all that i need already.. the rest are overkill for me..
