I've been thinking abt this for a while. As an owner of m43 cam, one main draw is a large sensor in a small body. But now that APS-C sensors with 50% larger area in mirrorless small form factor is out, I wonder what is the main draw of a m43 cam. Regardless of the current quality of those cams, won't u say that their foreseeable future is much brighter than our m43? But I'm not really pro so i may be missing something. Anyone care to fill me in?
Will be interesting to see whether the software corrected mZD lenses can match up to the optically optimised ZD stuff.

If the SG M.ZD lenses can resolve optically like the SHG, ,I will have to end up eating the 7-14mm lens for supper.
Short answer to this question is NO.I guess the dynamite finally arrived: http://www.43rumors.com/official-olympus-press-conference-news/
A German site covered it: http://www.systemkamera-forum.de/blog/2010/09/olympus-pressekonferenz-photokina/
There are some pics of the mock up of the compact camera too.

Olympus underlines their commitment to maintaining the Four Thirds System
PRESS RELEASE:
“After the traffic generated by the interview published yesterday by QUESABESDE.COM, we have been contacted by Olympus to clarify some ideas explained in the interview. The translation to different languages seems to have distorted the original meaning – according to the company.
This morning Miquel Angel Garcia stated during a conversation on the Olympus photokina booth: “Of course we will not stop the production of Four Thirds lenses of our current catalogue”
The original statement included the words “right now” – and Olympus wants to emphasize this temporal term. In other words, although there are no Four Thirds lenses currently under development, it does not mean that there will be no future lenses based on this technology.
“We are currently concentrating on developing Micro Four Thirds lenses, but the Four Thirds System Technology is alive and we will use it whenever necessary”, they insist.
In line with this, the company underlines its commitment to the E-System users. As an example, the spokesperson reminded us that even today Olympus just launched a firmware update for some of its professional lenses which promises a much better performance with E-5.”
Lost in translation.
Classic.
And there goes the SHG firesale... BOOOOOOO!
Hahaha, what you said crack me up at night, lol
you luffing at my misfortune.
sicko. :hammer:
i somehow expected this to happen: Olympus clarifies earlier report... there still MIGHT be some new 4/3 lenses in the future, but not for now
Had a long chat with Olympus yesterday regarding this marketing booboo. The people in Olympus are furious over the poorly worded statement and translation by Mr Miguel, esp on the 4/3s lens development and a future m4/3s pro body.
Basically, the direction for 2011 is:
1) oly is putting most of it's resources into m4/3s for 2011
2) there are no plans for a pro m4/3s body yet
3) 4/3s will remain as the pro system from oly and there are lenses and bodies scheduled for development. Just that no lenses will likely be announced in 2011.
Now how about they release a statement correcting that?Had a long chat with Olympus yesterday regarding this marketing booboo. The people in Olympus are furious over the poorly worded statement and translation by Mr Miguel, esp on the 4/3s lens development and a future m4/3s pro body.
