[ News ] GX7 is available for sale in Singapore

Thanks kel77.

So, the conclusion is simple ... to just switch & keep the IS in both body & lens to ON ... ?

Thanks again ... cheers

Apparently it doesn't affect as it will auto use the OIS on lens only.
I do not have an OIS lens to test out but anyone seen something different on the screen display when you have one attached? Does the hand icon with the "body" word display something else?

Any GX7 users here manage to put on a screen protector on the LCD ?

If yes, appreciate if you let me know where you purchase it.

Thanks

I initially had mine same time with the camera from SLR Revo but they didn't have one of exact size and they cut it slightly.
I ordered another one on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/181249504311?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
There are 2 pieces in there and it is matt finish which I like very much as you won't leave oil from your finger stains easily.
Not difficult to apply.

I didn't see any hand icon on the GX7 body when I attach the 12-35 lens with IS ON ..

Quote: "Now when it comes to mirrorless cameras, in-camera IS is the best way to go in my opinion. This is where I believe Nikon made a mistake with their Nikon 1 line. When mirrorless electronic viewfinder technology is used, lens-based stabilization just does not make much sense anymore."
Thanks Keith but I am a bit confused.

So, with this sentence since GX7 is also mirrorless, can I switch both IS on body & lens to ON ? (since it says lens stabilisation does not make sense)

Sorry for being "cheong hei" but I need to clear my doubt ... :)

Thanks again.

Cheers

Thanks. Is the hand icon also missing when you turn on IBIS but off OIS on lens?

Ok kel77, this is my test with all the permuations:

1) Body ON with 12-35 (ON) = No hand icon

2) Body ON with 12-35 (OFF) = got hand icon with the hand saying OFF

3) Body ON with 25 f1.4 (this lens has no switch) = got hand icon with hand saying BODY

So, can we conclude that I can leave the IS in both body & lens to ON ?

Thanks again ...

cheers

Relax and calm down first. the camera's not gonna go anywhere. Let's all simplify everything as much as possible.

Firstly , it's Yes. U can leave both camera and lens IS switched on since GX7 will switch to lens IS automatically. Kel77 was right about lens IS taking over.

Secondly, you will need to change IS settings if u r doing panning etc & other info u should know.

lastly, spend a bit of time reading that manual ;) I hate reading manuals but then, at times doing that does help.

hope this clarifies your worries.

Secondly , that paragraph was a 'moving forward more in depth' discussion thing hence don't be too worried about that. More of discussion lens IS vs In-body IS. We can leave this to another day.

Ok thanks Keith ... tonite I can sleep in peace liao ... :)

On my E-M5, when using my Panasonic 100-300 lens at 300mm, the images are most stable when both Olympus IBIS and Panny OIS are on. Don't ask me why....

Is there any difference if I buy lens from US and buy it locally

How much is the gx7 body alone? i was quoted 1410 with the 20mm kit.

Those GX7 owners, able to share the pics of your dressed up Pany GX7?

If there's one thing that infuriates me about my GX-7, it's the terrible datalink cable.

Most of the times it doesn't connect properly, no matter which USB port I try.

Today it got worse, I've been trying to xfer photos out but to no avail, my computers simply "doesn't recognize the USB device".

Anyone facing this same problem?

Go to camera menu and set the usb connection to storage or mtp, i forget which one liao.
