[ News ] GX7 is available for sale in Singapore

Any GX7 users here manage to put on a screen protector on the LCD ?

If yes, appreciate if you let me know where you purchase it.

Thanks

Thanks Keith Wee, I need the grip to extend battery life bcos 320 shots is not enuf to do timelapse ... Thanks

No prob , let me ask my dealers & friends regarding this. At least I'm clear it's a grip with a battery like the HLD-6 or 7 type and not just a grip for grip's sake.

I don't think there's any 3rd party grips around. Been searching in ebay.
There's not even a gariz half case for it as well...

Ya .. So far none I came across. Just asking around if there's anyone creative enough to do one :)

Hi all GX7 experts,

Can I check whether there is any hand grip for GX7 ?

I noticed that the GX7 battery is smaller than GH3. And one full charge may not be sufficient to do a few hours of timelapse ...

Thanks

Doesn't make sense for Panasonic to release a battery grip for the GX7, it's the wrong camera.

Timelapse is good for the camera industry because it quickly wears down the shutter and most people these days will not buy a used camera (unless they know what to check).

So the solution (to help sales) is for camera companies to make use of the USB connection for charging, to power the camera as it goes about shooting thousands and thousands of images for timelapses.

It is really a good move for the camera companies, if they actually think about it.

If really USB charging is enabled for 'time lapses' , then it is really likely u will see reports of cameras bursting spectacularly into flames haha

I thought it's a joke. It can't charge via USB like other cameras? [Looking at even older Sony cameras…]

Actually Nikon has a good implementation of this. So far no cameras have been harmed in making timelapses, though the shutter life is shortened.

Paiseh , was just joking abt it ;)

Which brings to mind... why didn't Panasonic and Olympus implement it!??! I mean, Olympus is trying to sell a HLD vertical grip with an additional super over priced power supply brick with a proprietary connector... The built in timelapse function is not enough for serious timelapse photographers. They are really not "feeling" their user base.

But to do outdoor shooting, how to charge using USB ? There is no 13Amp power socket outdoor ...

I think someone invented already those external battery packs I heard about. If the output delivers enough Ampere and the camera is designed to operate while charging as well it should work, shouldn't it?

If a camera charges by USB, there are battery pack solutions that can allow one to shoot in the field for weeks. Throw in solar charging, and it is almost "infinite" power.

I was being sarcastic… ;) I know but it seemed RyanKhoo wasn't aware of that development.

All these is still based on if the camera supports USB in-camera charging. Think so far it's only Sony who does this for all their cameras , but then they remove the charger from the standard pack :(

Always had to spend a bit more to buy a charger since there r times where I end up charging more than 1 batt.

Hoping for the day when all the models comes with USB charging while still giving me the charger haha.

The USB is only of use in this case if the camera also supports getting powered via USB while charging at the same time. Not sure if even Sony supports it.
