[Newly released] the X-T10 : the daily companion for life’s everyday moments.

Hi guys
Pretty new to Fuji system.
Using m43 planning to try my hands at Fuji.
Can anyone advise whether the pwp promo for the lenses are worth it? I'm really clueless as to whether the $800 savings for 3 lenses is off rrp or the street prices for the lenses.

I'm quite set on pre ordering the xt10 but I'm not sure if I should buy 3 pwp lenses or buy them off bns.

Would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance :)

Hi all Bros here,
I'm also completely new to fujifilm system and is trying to dip into this all new field which I have not touch before.
I'm contemplating whether to get the $1299 body only with pwp.
Is it really a good buy or can buy from our own frequent shop which offers street price?
Hope brothers here can give some advice.
Thanks in advance!!
Regards,
Arthur.

hi ,

I started with MFT (ex-Oly fanboy here) and have now sold off MFT and use Fujifilm. Each system has their strengths but its good to test both for oneself instead of just listening to others lol.

let me set this off properly.

the pre-order prices/package for the X-T10 is good, $1299 for body yes, but different shops will offer different additional freebies - so this one u do need to ask around. So far i know of a shop who's even including an additional dry cabinet. Some familiar with Fujifilm promo will wan to wait it out for the next promo (with cashback etc) - and I have mentioned what to think about this idea before.

the pwp up to $800 off for the XF lenses is good. It has never been done before and this time its really Japan HQ throwing it in for the X-T10 release. Some shops (u know the nice 2nd floor shop?) already done up the pricelists so U can check it yourself and compare. I can tell u off straight even for the XF10-24 which price is really stable, getting it off this promo is way cheaper than BnS.

a proper explanation:

1. the lens PwP needs to be with the X-T10 purchase in the same receipt.
2. the discount is a discount off the total price straight - no need to claim or reimburse later. Eg, if I get X-T10 body + XF10-24, XF56 and XF35 = straight $800 discount off.
3. all authorised dealers support this (aka street prices apply) so u gotta ask and check. '

have fun!

I plan to use this for portrait and street photo during my holiday. Any recommendation? Shall I get 18mm f2? Some forumer selling at $350 so not sure whethee $200 off $899 is worth it

Current fuji fanboy right :bsmilie:

Current Kei-fanboy lol. (My daughter) the fuji fanboy is reserved for another close friend who has almost everything Fujifilm can sell.

But frankly all the questions here can be answered if we just bothered to pick up the phone and call. Shops also wan business ma.

Sorry for asking this here. But am considering getting the x-t10 and was browsing the second hand price for some of the lenses. Seems like the price for a second hand lens and a first hand differs a lot. Generally about $500 diff. Just wondering if that's the norm.

That is what I wanna know also

that's norm lol. A Leica M240 leaves the shop at >$10,000 and sells for $6xxx now if u r lucky. U check and u don see anyone putting a asking price for M9 anymore.

Most lenses like the XF56, XF23, XF14, XF10-24 retain their values well. I've seen people who are lazy to check the shops and end up paying close to brand new prices for second hand pieces.

some lens like the XC16-50, XC50-230, U might be better off keeping them in your dry cabinet lol. XF18 and XF35's prices crashed as Fujifilm offered them as freebies at one point but have now stabilised, especially XF35's - people know its a good piece of glass.

anymore info, go check and study yourself. Its a lesson anyone should take up if u wana deal in BnS. ;)

Thanks!! Very helpful. Now I can better plan my budget and work with it.

Is 18mm f2 suitable for landscape? Or it is better to use 10-22 f4

Is 18mm f2 suitable for landscape? Or it is better to use 10-22 f4

Disclaimer: I'm not a Fuji user but am really tempted by the X-T10

IMO if you want to use a 18mm prime for landscape, you rather use the kit lens 18-55. The 18-55 is cheaper than the 18mm f2 if you buy it as a kit anyway, and is a lot more versatile as a landscape lens because it zooms. So you can have 18mm, 35mm, 50mm all in one lens. Aperture is not that relevant for landscapes in general unless you're doing astro, but then f2 is not much more bright than f2.8 anyway.

Basically, i think it is quite obvious when a person does his due diligence of research. Anyways, second hand sellers also need people who will buy at an attractive price that is close to first hand. People have a choice, either you work hard and find out what's the 'norm' or wait to be fed info (and some info i've seen in some of the threads here also quite off) then get burnt when dealing at a bad price.

The prices listed on promotional literature are recommended retail prices. Street prices are usually lower if you know where to shop. A shop was selling the 18mm f/2 at $499 when they were clearing stock so a used price of $350 isn't that shocking. Do yourself a favour, start shopping physically to get an idea of what's happening out there.

Anything lens can be used to take landscape photographs. What matters most is if that lens is the one for YOU to take landscapes. Only YOU can answer that question.

I was told that all pre-orders will have to be purchased at RRP.

Signed up for the body only deal and should be getting the 10-24mm with it.
