but for my friend is continue shooting problem, 1st press for high speed, can be up to 4 frame per second.
after 2nd press is the sound ta ta ta.. cannot reach to 4, it's very slow.

This is probably due to the write speed of the flash card. It can shoot 4 fps but if the SD card cannot write fast enough and the buffer is max already it will not be able to continue shooting at that frame speed.

agree. i tried to use ordinary 1 g flash card on my d300. super slow in taking raw. switch back to ducati when need to take action shot for raw.

lesson learnt.

If you haven't noticed, SDHC cards have speed classes. Class 2 (you'll notice a 2 enclosed in a C somewhere on the card) is probably the slowest. Sandisk UltraII are class 4, so they are faster than class 2. There are also class 6 cards available and these are supposed to be faster than class 4 cards which are usually sufficient.

i knew about the solution, so when bought the SD card , should be see the higher speed, and 8GB above.
so today i have to learn for new thing.

thanks!. :bsmilie:

Hello

I really need advise and help. I just bought a D5000 at comex yesterday. Went home happily and set up everything. Camera is working find for 10 mins and then. Display screen started to black out, option menu cannot be seen. Camera still can take pic but display cannot see my taken photo. After another 2 min, Camera into not working mode. Now camera is not working at all. I really dunno what happen. (Already tried to take out battery and off the camera. still the same.

So disappointed. What can be done? bring back to comex for exchange or direct to Nikon Singapore for repair. Hope some one can give me some pointers

Rgds
Hi Splash11, Yep I read from Europe website that the D5000 indeed is running into the same problem you mentioned. Looks like a firmware issue caused by part having the articulating LCD. Better bring it back for exchange or better still get another model.. that is if you top up else another D5000 may give u same issues....

Nikon explains recall of serviced D5000s

ur friend using D5000? i got this problem at first too, u noe the rxx rite when u depress shutter halfway; it shows how many shots can you take b4 buffer fills up. lets say if its r08, means you can burst at 4fps ( provided shutter speed is , 1/250 sec) for 8 shots b4 it become super lag. for ur friend, its probably smth like r02. the reason is because he has turned on stuff like distortion control, high iso NR and a bunch of other stuff that requires in cam processing, tats why he cant burst for long. its not because of the card; the faster card u have, means the buffer can empty to the card faster i.e: save faster. it doesnt matter what card u use, the number of images the buffer can take will remain the same. hope this helps for all nikon d5000 folk.

TS already got his camera changed and is happily shooting, pls read entire thread instead of just the firs post. :nono:

Oh noted. Was just highlighting that others also ran into same issues with the D5000 and not confine to some.. In any case, good since OP got his fixed...:)

Hi Lionheart

Thanks! appreciate your concern. Now happyily shooting around (but still hv time for clubsnap). still trying to develop feeling & understand the camera. Haha. My overall experience with Nikon is good given that they acknowledge my faulty camera and change without any question and hesitation.

Just to check with the forumer here, does anybody got the call from Nikon Service Centre that they are willing to do a one to one exchange for your D5000 set to a brand new set even after you have sent in for service during the initial recall.

I didn't get the call...mine was repaired before the service advisory came out. Did you get that call?

Yes, they even agree to 'restart' the warranty the day you exchanged the camera with them. I'm just quite worried that might get a set which is faulty because still happy with my current one. But the warranty restart really lure me. :)
