Newbies Outing (Part 7) Photo - Clarke Quay, 24th Mar 2010

bro, firstly ty for spendin time to comment on my shots. for my #1 shot, its pretty hard for me to physically see the shot taken thru my lcd cox mine's really small & im still learnin to read the histogram. will try to improve my skill the next time round. As for my #2, im nt too sure if my hosting site, FB, blocks out my EXIF data nt but i myself did not removed it. Erm may i ask izzit cox of underexposed tt caused my background to blend in w the sky? thank you in advance :)

Henry
Yeah I think facebook blocks out the exif information.
I use photobucket. Not the friendliest interface, but it's ok for my minimal use.

Probably, underexposure will be one of the reasons why sky n buildings blend together. Singapore sky has quite a lot of light pollution, so usually there is still some 'glow' in the sky. The best is still to shoot when there's a hint of light in the sky, ie at about 745-8ish. If there are dramatic clouds and you want to capture them, then slightly earlier will be better.

here my shots hehe...thanks for the tips guy who teach me. 4got his name. haha..thanks aniwae..learn a few, got little trouble shooting slow shutterspeed

You have little trouble (i.e. very easy) shooting with slow shutter speed, or you had some trouble (i.e. a bit of difficulty) shooting with slow shutter speed?

hehehe if it's the former, then well done! :)
if it's the latter... I got 5 words for you...

love the composition! :)
this image stands out.
One nitpick: the reflection is brighter than the actual object, a tell-tale sign of some "HDR" at work here... Probably gotta tone down the exposure for the building.

That's my 2c worth!

Thanks Bro. Noted:)

No HDR...just tweaked the colours and exposure in PS.
Used a ND8 filter for this :)

This is a nicely composed shot. Like what ZerocoolAstra suggested, it will be better if the building looked less radiant than the surroundings.

Why did you use an ND8 for this shot ?

Thanks for the comments. Will take note.
Too bright, had to use ND8 to "step" down
glare and harsh lighting.

really? I was pretty certain this was done with a combination of exposures.... hehehehe.
I notice some sort of 'halo' around the top edge (right-edge in the photo) of the building.

I make use of this thread to add some photos I took this evening at Resorts World... :)
Lazy to start another thread...

#1: I think it's called the Lake of Dreams
