Newbies need help right?

Not exactly a good example...
If every time a new enthusiast wants to learn kungfu and each one asks bruce lee to teach horse-stand basics... how do you think he will feel/react?
If Bruce Lee is still alive today, he will probably scream...

Maybe some old birds are sick of reading the same questions which had been "answered so many time over the years". But then again, the easier way out is really, if you're so agitated when you see such a question, you can always choose to ignore. There are bound to be people answer them anyway. Rather than hantam the newbies who might well maybe be just a bit "lazy".

Me on the other hand thinks some are very brave to ask certain questions, when u see the thread title, you're almost certain the regular few old birds will come in and kbkb them. Kudos to these brave newbies. I've never had the courage to ask much questions. Google won't scold me. :bsmilie:

Not sure if it's me only, but I noticed that while "old birds" kbkb... I dun see "new birds" helping out with answering brave question as well. :dunnoe:

If you have a question you may get a better response when you PM someone in a forum whom you think can help you.

what's LMFGTFY?

i think the seniors here are pretty good. they give their honest opinions and sometimes might just seem harsh and sarcastic.

then again, if every one of them said nice things about the photos and posts, no one would learn how to shoot better right?

More like if you know someone won't scold you for it. :bsmilie:

exactly my point you can always choose to ignore and not go on a high and mighty powertrip and blast the newbie with their favorite putdowns

imo there is really something fundamentally wrong with people like that maybe they themselves get bullied at home or at work that they have to vent out their anger/frustrations here by picking on newbies

i think the seniors here are pretty good. they give their honest opinions and sometimes might just seem harsh and sarcastic.

Sometimes I don't understand what some of them are speaking though...

If you've noticed in your photo, part of the first tower is being obscured by the museum. The rythem of odds(3) is being disrupted. This gets worse as you move along the bay towards the Flyer's direction because the museum gets even closer to you and obscure more of the towers. Then there is an issue with compositional balance. Don't you find your photo left heavy? The museum and towers occupy so much space on the left where there is virtually nothing on the right(above the convention centre). These are reasons why I've never taken a shot of the MBS from the Esplanade side ever since the museum took shape.

I google rhythm of odds, rythem of odds, come out all gambling things...???

This photo is having the trees as your main subject. For me I would do it differently. I would choose the whole scene as the main subject and the trees are the secondary subjects to enhance the main one.

Too cheem for me. Whole scene as main subject??? Huh???

Can you imagine if I take a portrait photo of a person and cut off all the space around the face. Cropping right at the top of the head....

Pls see Zhang Jingna works with crop right at top of head:

http://zemotion.deviantart.com/art/Promised-Dreams-II-167144073?q=gallery:zemotion/14429&qo=27

So how come all say this type of things... Can someone explain these statements to me???

Juz dun PM Bruce Lee.

I definitely won't do that. Some of the lao jiao around quite scary already. Sometime see the newbies get screw cyber-ly, i also .

I guess so. They enjoy putting down others in order to elevate themselves. I guess as far as possible we can only try to avoid them for peace.

This issue has been discussed before here, it is like the Olympus wide angle hokkien advertisement, someone will put it up here.

There are many newbies who takes the advices here but there is not even a word of thanks.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that the forum is starting to be unfriendly to newbies?
I see a lot of newbies getting condescending and sarcastic replies sadly from senior members who should know better afterall they were once newbies as well.

I would understand if the information has been discussed elsewhere on the forum so a point in the right direction from senior guys would be justified but I am starting to notice some people getting a high on putting down other people. Like ive said before on this forum if you have nothing positive to add better not to post at all

just my 2 cents...

i've always found this forum friendly and helpful to newbies.

newbies are free to ask me anything, anytime, and they will not be abused. :)

it's obvious you are a newbie.
Believe me, a few years ago, it was much worst. Now it is much tamer because there are more Mods and these Mods are less tolerance.
There are good and bad points .... Good - people generally are better behave.
Bad - quality images are lesser, many good shooters don't post here much nowadays (IMHO). That's life!

I may be wrong but it's my personal observation.

i may be a newbie in photography but an oldie in real life. what really gets me riled up is people who think that just because you have got an expensive setup and maybe posted a couple of thousand posts it makes you an all knowing bigshot

i especially hate the favorite LMGTFY i dont see the point of this... whats the end goal here? how is it supposed to help? its a plain and simple sarcastic and condescending comment designed to give the bully the buzz he gets when he puts people down...
