it depends on what effects are u looking out for.
like fisheye effects (fisheye2 or fisheye)? continuous shoot effects (supersampler or actionsampler)? RANDOM effects (holga)?

personally fisheye2 is fun! (:
and for shops, get it from basheer or online.
never on local spree-ers as they're charging way to ex.

normal films like 35mm konica centuria iso 200?
or even kodak elitechrome iso 100.
but seriously, for films, starting u shud just use ANYTHING. then see what u like.

expired films are films that are expired but ppl still use them as they give a SPECIAL effect. i haven tried tat out yet. oppps.

hmm true i was looking at films and yeah the expiry date is like 009!!! how to get expired? lol

nways wads the cheapest films to get? hmm can anyone intro?

i bought a quad cam :P cheap but its something

wahhh wanted to get the FE2 from ruby last week but no $$
today I went they increased the price by $6 =(

i thought of only setting aside $120 hahaha

its 126? mmmm im still thinkin wad film to get.

i suggest u start with cheap negative film. play around first. one u get better with ur camera. start playing with slides and cross processing!

Haha~ Buy a batch and keep them in your wine cabinet until you forget lor

But I heard heat make them expire faster leh, donno correct or not

Normal negative films onli cost about $3+ per roll, usually find them in a box of 3.

Sildes films can start from $7+ to $10 per roll depending on what brand also.

Once you've tasted slides....

i went hunting today..

Actually the quad cam i had produced some rattling sound which worried me.
so i went back to the shop in far east and she told me that its like tt (according to the xpert)
so ok lo...
went to Ruby to see see
went to Cathay to see see
went to Adelphi's photo lab to see see

hmm look nia for films and cam lo.. only Ruby has lomo.. but quite x ler..
nways in the end got 2 rolls from ruby which sells 1 for $4, Fuji's superia x-tra 400.
expires 2009 oct...
He said that for my cam only 400 is good coz if not all pics would be under exposed.
finally could come home... at cozway pt i went to all 3 photoshops in the basement and 1st floor.
finally compared them prices and got me a 3 in 1 box for $10 (cheapest) which expires 09 may.
none of them can tell me where to get expired films.. even gave me a shocked look when i asked for it...
"cannot have expired ah... we very careful one... "
oh well.. i have 5 films now.. duno wad to do with them .. slowly play with my quad first ba...

Can I hijack a bit? Hehe. :) Looked into here and kenna poisoned already. How does these toy cameras really work? Looking at Action Sampler. Is the shutter speed fixed at 1/100s? What ISO films should I use? ISO 1600? :D Sorry to hijack once more. Forgive me.

Can I hijack a bit?

Not an expert. AS(action sampler, quadcams etc) depends alot on lighting conditions. On a bright sunny day, ISO200 is more than enough, on cloudy days, ISO400 will be better, but indoor or late evening, ISO1600 also can't help.:bsmilie: must look for a good lighting before pressing the shutter.

For most plastic cams, toy cams, ISO 400 is the safest. Dun shoot at night.

i guess he's right..

Sir Max!

hehehe

hmm btw, there is a iso 1600?

nvr see b4

Just a note to those new to toy camera photography, don't be "wowed" by all the cameras, just buy 1 or 2 and play. If not you'll end up like alot of us here, alot of cameras, no time to play. :bsmilie:

I am really scared that it becomes underexposed. Hehe. Using a DSLR now, so feeling a little weird about film. ISO of Digital and ISO of film same or different? :)

same theory, but different sensitivity. ISO in digital camera emulate film sensitivity but does not mean its exactly the same.

nways i just opened my lil toy here hee so excited... so delicate.
i found out that the noise i heard was actually a metal clip of the strap in the cam.
haiz made me worried that i got a spoilt one..
nways
looks like a simple cam jus that its got 4 holes in front. and its like transparent with green cover at the front.
(check out 'show off your toys' thread)
i opened one of the films i bought from uncle ruby... the 400asa superia
as i opened the back cover i realised i was v clumpsy with this last time i handled a cam with film input in the end spoilt the whole film.. (that was last time)
i tried to put in the film but had some difficulty....
damn i hate it! i cant i cant!!!
oh wait... there is a hole to slot the film in?!?!?
baka me!!!
slotted it in and it wound up like a charm... with so many finger prints of mine of coz..

so now its in...

i jus have to wait till day light since 400asa can work well in light...

rem...

Shoot from the hip!!!
dun worry bout the pics!!
