am interested if there is still a place for me.

I am interested also, but coming Sat morning, I won't be free for this... :(

1. We have stopped taking in ppl. Thanks for the interest.
I was thinking of looking for 1 to 2 ppl to go photographing. Never expected to end up with
a big group but it's ok 'cos can make more friends.

The final list is on the first thread.

2. Let's set the date on 28 Feb morning 9am to Hort Park as it is nearer to a MRT station,
Harbourfront. More convenient for everyone either driving or not. We shall meet at the
Harbourfront mrt station at 8.30am.
Have to be early 'cos no point shooting near noon. Too glaring and too hot.

3. Please PM me your contact.

Hmm shooting macro.
Well i only have the cam with the kit lens
i dont thk it's suitable to shoot macro.

For those who (in the namelist on the top of the thread) are still interested in going, please response by this Wednesday and PM your contact.

No problem bro. I have an adapter which you can use on your kit lens. ;)

whoa no joke.
So paiseh man.
:embrass:

To be very frank, you can use your kit lens to take macros of flowers. Using say a +4 filter isn't going to be much use since the magnification you are going to get won't be that much. :)

I have posted the first thread at the wrong forum so "kena" closed by the moderator.. ;p

Anyway, so far i have quite a few responses. The namelist is as follows:
1.FireZ
2.kelvint81
3.Fullspectrum
4.astro833
5.Galdor
6.xintothezonex
7.calvin

I would like to propose if we could have our first outing on the coming Saturday 28 February 8.30 morning.

As the response is overwhelming, we have STOPPED taking in more ppl otherwise it will be very difficult to manage.

And, we have 2 places to go after the initial voting,
1. Hort Park

Please give your better suggestions!!

Please response by Wednesday if you are going and PM your contact.
Hi Catsim,

The Hoya +4 filter is about $27 at Cathay Photo.

If you use the +4 filter on your 18-55 kit lens, the magnification is very little even at 55mm. If you want to use the +4 filter, you should use it on your 55-250 and even then, you need to use at ard 100mm and above to get any meaningful magnification. Do take note that once you use the +4 filter, your focusing distance becomes 25cm and you should manually turn your focusing ring to MIN focusing distance to get MAX magnification.

A +10 filter or the Raynox DCR250 would be the best in this case. However, for both the +10 and Raynox, you probably won't be able to use it past 200mm due to the very thin DOF which makes focusing very difficult.

I currently have a set of close up filters (+1, +2, +4 & +10) as well as the Raynox DCR250 which I use occasionally on my 55-250 lens. When using the Raynox DCR250 on your 55-250 lens, you will get vignetting until ard 70mm.

So far, I have 3 confirmed according to the namelist and 2 (not in the namelist) through sms saying that they are interested.

I think there are quite a few spots that we could proceed from Harbourfront Mrt, namely, hort park, the Marang Trail, Henderson wave even the vivo city itself.

Since the group is pretty small and I anticipate a few ppl to drop out eventually, we could change (if we want to) the final destination when we meet since most of us are not good in macro (inlcuding me, i have no macro lens).

you guys taking in anymore people?

Rayox DCR250 actually is better than the closeup filters because it has 3 elments compared to the single element close up filter.

Like I said, for ALL closeup filters, the DOF is going to get thinner once the zoom becomes longer. The only issue is how much thinner it is going to get and when it gets unacceptably thin.

The only difference between a +4 and a +10 filter is the magnification you are going to get at the SAME zoom. A +10 filter is going to give u much geater magnification at ALL zoom ranges.

The +10 filter can be used on your 18-55 kit lens whereas the +4 filter won't give u much magnification if used on the kit lens.

Stacking the filters is not recommended espeically for single element filters. ;)

Anyway, I have a set of +1, +2, +4 and +10 filters for the 55-250 lens. If you are free, you can join me on one of my macro outings to test out the filters on the 55-250 lens.
