in that case. in case u are still confused which is better.
Nikon.
Poor ISO performance. despite many improvements, its still rather noisy at ISO 640-800 and above. thats provided if you shoot at such a high ISO.
Colours. good colours but performs differently with different lens. of course you pay more to get good colours and performance.
AF speed and focusing speed dependant on both lens and body.
Extremely Sharp. Very good in detailing work.
Canon
Good ISO performance. Clean ISO up till 800. Good ISO performance at high ISOs.
Good colours at all ranges of ISO. many canonians will tell you that most professionals will choose Canon for its colours and good ISO control.
AF speed is dependant on L lens only. Body plays secondary role, electronically controlled AF. you pay MORE for L lens for its great lens and speed.
IMHO, not as sharp as some Nikons, but can still live with it... good for fashion photography, sports and nature.
hope this helps... Both systems have their own pros and cons. go with either one, you wun go wrong... in the end. its you whos making the purchasing, not us. in the end its you who do the learning and live with the system.
different people have different taste for each system. get the system you feel more comfortable in.

. both D70s and 350D is good for starting out.
Reason for you to choose D70s over D70. (its a newer technology, and improved, fixed bugs and etc. bigger sceen doesnt mean anything to me anyway. yes it does suck more battery. but i would emphasize NOT TO review every each shot. its a bad habit..)
