Newbie need advise on which is the best point & shoot Video Cam below $500?

Hi Sorry my budget is below $500.00

Need to get a video cam for my parents as gift to suprise them.

I read alot of good reivew on Panasonic SD90 but i think this is about $1k.

Is there anymore video cam which is easy to use that have wide lens too?

Purpose of usage would for holiday filming and when friends come to our house for dinners or party.

Sound quality is not an important factor.

You may want to take a look at the Canon Legria FS406. It meets your budget but I'm not sure how wide the lens is.
