where is this place for #1?

All, I didn't sign up for the gathering last Sat as I wasn't sure I was able to join you. I made it there and recognised the bunch of you standing outside the MRT in the group photo. Nevertheless, hope to join next time. I post some photos I took that evening. C&C welcome. Cheers and Merry Xmas!

thanks, it was a simple shot indeed. as a matter of fact someonewas holding the star on the right bottom as it was spinning.
well some like a simple presentation of a single object whereas i'm a bit more greedy to have more than 1. i happend to like the shapes and lines.

simple but interesting shot. colorful and many interesting pattern. like this one the most in the whole thread.

since you've made to to see us then why didn't you join it. i'm sure nobody would refrain you from joining us. anyway, i hope to see all of you again.

Honestly, felt a little bit intimated when I see some guys with big gears....ha ha ha. Will try to join next time.

actually on familiar grounds, it is better to go around alone. going overseas wise, small flexible groups are good in terms of safety, cost and even decision making (good for people less headstrong but rather less motivated, uninformed or indecisive).

if you already got over there on your own initiative, it shows you have that motivation and the rest will work well.

ash, for the soldier shot, what's your focal length (and crop factor), distance from subject and shutter duration? it is not sharp. interesting enough, different ppl who shot in some similar locations all got the same problem, likely due to dim lighting.

and what did you mean by big gear? are u using a compact instead?

hi zoosh, because the soldier is not stationary.... its rotating around + under some dim lighting, so its a bit challenging.

so it shows that, that night none had large gear large aperture to freeze it;)

haha i think f1.8 + ISO 1000 can do it. brought it but didnt use :bsmilie:

This is actually my first night photography and was also trying to figure out the tripod. I had to shoot with people coming from behind as it was the traffic junction. Just checked the Red Soldier was shot at f/3.5, Exp 1/6 sec & ISO 160 and no flash.
