Well, a pradoxical proposition:

A rightful first class treated as a second class or a second class treated as first class.

Theres no such thing as 'Rightful First Class'..... :nono:

I would rather have 5 useful person than 10 complaint king who does nothing but complain.

Btw..... "second class treated as first class"..... yeah, till the local start feeling threaten by you 'Stealing' their jobs. Then lets see how much first class we are talking about. In the 80's & 90's... nobody in S'pore complaints about Thai construction workers or people doing jobs S'porean's claim they are 'too good' to do... but look at the suitation now....

Singapore Govt welcomes foreign talent = NZ Govt welcomes foreign talent
Local S'porean dislike foreign talent = Local Kiwi.........

It's actually different. SG immigration is lax. You see FT's in the form of truck loads jamming up the traffic everywhere and in the backlanes or Geylang.

Aussieland and NZ like many developed countries have strict immigration policies and trash are being filtered. So I don't see how there's a backlash when true FT are allowed into the countries where jobs can't be filled by their locals.

Here, locally, all kinds of talents are welcome ply their trades including wanting your job.

Mmm.... much like what Govt like to said.... but not how the local feels....

Now let's get factual. How is it a small little nation (with the smallest land size) like us tops the world ranking excssively in positive migration?

UN International Migration 2009

We're a champion of all kinds of incoming. To have a critical comparison, compare Singapore to other developed country.

By the way, if a country's citizenry is not it's priority, then why be a citizenry?

No thanks. Living with sheep is fun for a while, but my thing for life.:)

Who's eyeing on a Singapore job:

yea..it's 38% for taxable salary >70K....kinda insane unless they have very generous taxable income criteria. Image u earn 9K taxable nett per month, u got cough up 3.4K income tax per month. All the earnings go to government....bo hua la.

There is something very wrong with this country. Alot of us could see it coming.

There's a reason for the situation the country is in now.

It starts like this. The govt wants the country to go high-tech. Means have the entire economy working on producing/inventing high-tech products and exporting them.

But there is a problem. We don't have any high-tech products on hand right now. Which means we should get foreign high tech firms to set up here, bring their products here to produce or develop.

Means paying foreign firms doing gaming, animation, clean energy, electronics and digital storage, etc to set up here.

But the foreign firms will ask one single important qn that will get the govt in a panic: "How many skilled workers can singapore give me? If i can't get the numbers, i wouldn't set up."

Answer is very little. So sg starts bringing in foreign workers to fill the ranks. The govt sees it this way: for a local to have a high tech job, you need foreigners to make up the numbers, otherwise nobody, foreigner or local, gets the job.

Unfortunately, for the govt type, this becomes a kpi thing. All that matters are numbers. If you were a bureaucrat, if you manage to bring in X amount of phds by year Y, you get your bonus and level up in something like every 4 years. So you set policies to fulfill this kpi, often without regard to anything else other than the numerals X and Y.

Which is a problem coming back to bite us now. You set policies to bring in too many too fast, without proper screening making sure FTs are really talents. Sure, short term annual kpis are met, but the long term damage has already been done.

can consider.

More opportunities for jobs anywhere is good news.

New Zealand is waking up that it needs the right talents for it to progress and develop further. It is learning from Singapore. :)

soon the new zealanders will be complaining that there are too many "ah bengs" over at their place.

and that people are filling their jobs, clogging up their roads, stealing their natural resources, eating their mutton.... :bsmilie::bsmilie:

all complete with a thread asking why singaporeans have perculiar habits that do not fall in with the local traditions and why the government of nz doesn't bother to train them to speak english properly so that they can communicate properly???

time to find a nz forum to watch the fun! :bsmilie::angel:
