Hi all, by now I am sure most CS large format bros already knew about the New 55 film project @ Kickstarter

The project have 10 more days to go and it have just hit passed the 50% mark. Very hard to tell whether the project will pull through, but the response is promising. I just pledge mine @ Kickstarter and the process is quite fast if you have an amazon account. For bros who are not sure what amount to pledge, you can choose to pledge a minimum amount and than upgrade your pledge later in your Kickstarter account if you decided to give more support.

Currently I am shooting medium format 120, FP-100C and FP-3000B film (3000B sadly stop production last year :bheart:). The only large format camera I have is a Polaroid Miniportrait 253 4x5 with a back that take FP-100C, FP-100B, FP-500B and FP-3000B 4x5 which all sadly also ceased production years back. When New 55 was finally launch at Kickstarter, I got very excited as a film shooter. Some people say once a thing (or film) is dead is dead. But here we have a group of photographers (without aid from any business corporation), coming together and try to revive a classic film so current and future film shooter can enjoy one more process of taking analog photography. I decided that I must lend my support on this project. If this thing does pull through and flourish. The revival of FP-3000B, all 4x5 FP peel film and many more classic extinct film is also Plausible.

Better get the holder now before the price goes up.

Haha price of holder has already gone up, due to knee jerk reaction and opportunistic sellers.

Let it cool off before buying, shouldn't pay more than $20 USD.

I'm fortunate mine came with my Speed Graphic purchase ;)

the supply and demand rule is kicking in. 2,475 backers. how many would need a 545 holder? I read there are many such holders were sold in those days so maybe we will see more in ebay.
I got mine way back for US$6 when no one knows what to do with it .

I have got 2 Polaroid 545 for sale, $50 and $60 respectively.
sms 93895555 if keen

FYI: This is not my New55 reward box. This is the store version which New55 released so as to keep them going. Currently 50% of the pledge order have been fulfilled. I estimate my pledged New55 should reached March or April. Please wait patiently, they are working very hard to fulfilled the orders. I will post a review asap... Need to buy fixer and stuff.

Please support NEW55 and buy their film, we must show "Big companies" that film is not dead.

i have left with 2 shots from my reward box. Not perfect but pretty cool to use. My positive has a sepia tone to it but I read that they have fixed that.

New55 has teh technical know how to do the color peelpart. They may raise funds via Kickstarter but then again it will take some time to get to be as cheap and as good as the FP.

It is new form of peel film, will definitely support it if they plan to do it. Thank you zguy for the good news.

Hi all, as shared by nightwolf75. New55 have started another kickstarter. This time a New55 color instant film.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/892575418/new55-color-4x5-peelapart-film

Currently it is in the last 3 days of the campaign. And it is only 1/4 funded. Based on previous New55 Black and white campaign, it is still possible that there may be a Huge last min support from film photographers. If you interested in backing this project please do consider to support and back it asap. I think many are still observing and have not back the campaign. This New55 color is sort of important to "peel film", it is sort of a door leading to the possibility of reviving the discontinued Fuji Peel film. Lots of things needed to be done, and shifting from hand made to machine production is a must for a peel film. I will explain why below.

Below are test shoots using my Mamiya Universal.

As you can see the New55 film did not expose well... So far I have tested 4 pieces from 3 different boxes, result all identical. Currently I am suspecting that the batch I received have shorter shelf life? Did I get angry over the 3 failure exposure, the answer is NO. It made me more deeply believe that I should keep on supporting them as it is a daunting task to make all this happen. Shifting from hand made to machine process will make the product less prone to manufacturing error and importantly reduced cost in the long run. I will share more later.

Please everyone if you think peel film is something worth keeping please show your support. Btw anyone have idea to share this with Petal Pixel? Currently they have yet to publish this story.

Thank you all for reading and if possible do share the New 55 color campaign on Facebook or Instagram.

After reading thru New55 blog, I just confirmed what happen to the 3 failed exposures. The batch I had, expired September 2016. My bad... I assumed that it can last much longer. Same goes with very old expired FP peel film, once opened try to finish it within 1-2 weeks time. The FP-100C45, expired 2010. I remember I took 4 exposures, all work well. Decided to save it for important used. 4 months later, big change? Seems like the expired old chemical pod deteriorate much faster than fresh film. 2 costly lessons learnt :(

Btw, when I mentioned "anyone have idea to share this with Petal Pixel?", I am referring Petal Pixel have not shared anything regarding the New55 color Kickstarter. Not referring to this thread.

The New55 color have 55+ hours to go as of now. Hope it can make it, if not at least 50% funded so can give some confident to New55 team that it maybe caused by bad timing (US election, Christmas coming) or it is just not publicized enough to get attention?
