nice wide angle lens... kit lens huh...

agree... first time night shots with this grade??? well, then your master must be really superb...

many have this problem... try adjusting the base plate a little bit more to compensate the weak tightening issue... and i guess you should invest in a beter tripod, but not those really expensive ones... something practical will do...

Nope, the 17-55mm isn't kit lens. The kit lens is 18-55mm.

My masters are actually all from clubsnap....haha. I look at the settings people take from their nightshots and try to copy it when I try to take it myself.

Will be looking at buying a better tripod next. Have just gotten myself a 580ex II. Still learning flash photography for now. :)

I like #7392! Quite nicely exposed I feel.
#7410 seems to have a bit too much of the water, whole picture seems a bit dark

hmmm.....
actually thought of wat u mentioned...
thought of cropping it into a pano format...
but then thouhgt that i wanna keep the water... :bsmilie:

Really good work engkwee  My 5 cent thoughts, IMO all these technical settings (fstops, shutter speed blah blah blah....) are not much to worry about. U can always take multiple shots and see which one u like more, what really matters is the artist in you, which i believe is not new @ all ;)

Thanks for the kind comments :)

Yup, that's what I did, I took multiple shots at various settings just to see what I'll get. Those settings with good output, I'll try to duplicate it on another scenery.

Hi Engkwee, really like all your shots. You don't look like a beginner :bsmilie: You should also post bigger pics maybe at 1024x768 to show the details of the images. Can I know what white balance you use for your picture 4 & 5? I was there at around 9 - 10pm but the fountain was switched off and therefore, i took the pics without the water..

Thanks! I posted the pictures based on the guidelines for clubsnap.... That's why I didn't post a larger pic. I was using Auto white balance throughout. I took those pictures around 8+pm if I remember correctly. Never stayed until so late at Marina Barrage before, so not sure what time they usually turn off the lights. I did a lot of trial and error and took a lot of shots ... so I guess I was lucky to get a couple of nice pictures :)

Bigger is better.

Lights stay on at the Barrage till dawn.

Here some of mine. I am a beginner too, been a beginner for a long time now. :bsmilie:

Sorry, I mean they turn off the water fountain :bsmilie: Then I guess the pics I am posting are too big. Nice dawn pics btw, not so hardworking to stay up until 6 or 7am!

Sorry, my bad.

I am not so hardworking as well. Woke up at 5:30am to get these pics. Only thing is, at that time, you have to drive, ride or take a cab to get to the barrage as there are no bus service at that time. But parking is plenty.

I really like barrage in the early morning. Quiet and empty, gives you a real peaceful feeling. And the dawn there is spectacular. Sunset is nice also but too many people on the weekends.
