I sense an outbreak of BBB virus again with the announcement of SB-900 & d700. :bsmilie:

i need to go gym more often already.

i think the sb900 is much heavier than the sb800.

i love my sb800, but i really need the reach at 200mm for the flash.

On paper, without battery, SB-800 is 350g while SB-900 is 415g, slightly heavier unless u intend to carry multiple flashes...

Actually i would only but the sb-900 if it costs a max if 700. It really isnt THAT much better... and besides, it kinda looks less well built than the sb-800. But comparing adorama's sb-800 and sb-900 price, its a freakin 185 USD more... omg.

Imagine the SB900 with a flash extender

Also holding on to my SB-800 purchase..wonder how much SB-800 will drop in price..

dont expect it to drop alot lah.

even if drop, i reckon it will take some time for them to drop.

i guess for general use, not much diff between 800 or 900.

but i would think wedding and nature photos would love to have the 900.

i for one, will love to have this for stage photography.

oh my bad !! The sb900 HAS A flip switch for Power ! Finally ... Nikon did one more thing correct !!! and seems like switching between on camera and off camera flash is made hassle free!..A flip switch too !!! :D No more press hold and wait .... :bsmilie:

200mm .... suppose we can use it for kicker light and hair light? Do away with the snoot perhaps? Fantastic :D

sb900 vs snoot?
no way the effect will be the same.

a snoot is so much more controlled.

sb900 if to be used for studio works, there must definitely be some kind of light modifier on it.else, the spread is simply too wide.

been there, done that.with 3 sb800 though.

recycling time using 4AA almost as fast as SB800 with 5th batt. ;p but the GN seems a tiny little lower than sb800, tho sldn't be noticeable.

hahaha...Nikon expect you to use higher ISO instead. That's where D3/D300/coming D700 & (so forth) newer DSLR will play that part.;p

but it would be nice, wouldn't it?

nice as in....????!?!?

nice to have a new flash.
nice to have a flash that can cover a further distance.
nice to have a new flash to compliment my d3.

but

when it comes to different needs, it's different.

a sb800/900/1000 will never be able to replace studio strobes eventually.

How to compare a flash with a strobe?

Flash is more intelligent...
Strobe is more powerful...

If you just want firepower, strobe is more value for money of course...
