^^^ which shop you bought your lens?

Cathay. Most of the reputable stores quoted me around 1480-1500 so since I was at Cathay, I got it there.

I got my Sigma 24-70 2.8 HSM from Parisik at $1420 before gst.

Very sharp lens and very quiet in the focusing. Was "poisoned" by one of the cat pictures posted here.
Was trying out the Tamron and Sigma and in the end, I took with the Sigma.

Reason:
1. Very quiet in focus and fast
2. Good feel on the len body (build)
3. Sharp lens

I'm selling mine. Sigma 24-70 HSM for Canon. About 2 months old with local shop warranty.

Downgrading to APS 15-85mm.

This is fundamental - never take in what the salesman tells you. The motive is clear - they want you to buy whatever they want that gives them good commission and sales. Well, salesman and lawyers are liars.

Sigma used to be cheap and has lower quality than camera brand lenses. But not today. IMO, Sigma's EX range is as good as any pro-lenses from the camera brand.



These salesman know nuts. And unprofessional to say such a thing.

I dun listen to all their craps. I go do my price survey, get it, test the stuff and pay up and off I go. NEVER take their advices - their advices are extremely biased. Well, for that matter, even in this forum, advices, views, opinion are also biased, based on personal opinion and different taste and different experiences. So, do take whatever you read on the net with a big tablespoon of salt and pepper and chilli padi too.

i share the same sentiments as u, why should u let some "pro" affect our decision-making.
i'm sure did each and everyone one of us did your own research before deciding on the things that we wanted.

i have to admit i did come across the tatics used by some a certain shop in funan which some bros has mentioned.
i wasn't keen with his explanation, just get the price quote from the sales and out i go after i notice that it is much higher than what other shops are offering

A quick one of my cat, image quality is excellent. 70mm F2.8, however i will not be posting any 100% crops for now as it is really dark and high iso on the camera doesn's show off the len's sharpness.

I got a friend to hand carry one for me early this month.... HKD5600... works out to be around S$1020... it's a grey set though.

2yrs6mth. The extra 6 mths is thru online registration. Total 30mths. Worth it... becoz calibration is free... wat if lens have b/f focusing problem or lens not sharp when it's suppose to be. A calibration from the agent is needed, after that, all wil be well.

Ive read the reviews at fengniao, and this review from lenstip says pretty much the same thing as fengniao.

Canon 24-70 L lens < Sigma 24-70 < Nikon 24-70 < Sony Carl Zeiss 24-70

however do note that the sigma is very nearly on par with the Nikon version and outshines the Canon L. And among the 4 lenses, the sigma is the cheapest.

I am deeply shaken by the review (Cute Cat). Been saving for donkey months for 24-70 nikon f2.8 lens. I guess I have to change "GF" liao...

search high and low... and got a little confused.. cos some reviews uses a FX camera as benchmark.. while other review uses a DX....

IMO, to make a good judgment on how sharp a lens is, you got to see it cropped at 100%, especially at the eyes. Web-sized pictures could only be indicative and not a good indicator of sharpness.
