new sigma 24-70mm

Someone should just insist on ordering and getting the lens, see if he can really deliver at $1200.

Hi ricleo, if there is a few more people facing the same problem like us very soon we can hear someone getting @1200 from John3:16.They are using the very old tatic for you to go to the shop tell the bad point & not worth to get it.Then try to sell you another product I hope no one fell for it if there is good luck to you.

John 3:16 email me the quote @$1200, I went there to order but no stock can order waiting times 3days to 8wks.
Then he will tell you not to waste your money to buy this lens not worth at all. Why paid so much.When you still want to order he will still continue to tell you the bad point why not buy the original lens or someother model I can't help it said thank you and walk out of the shop.That why is the lowest price you can find in town.

This is not surprising. I may not be wrong if I say that J3:60 views Sigma as inferior. Being a user of a Sigma-SLR, I was once told by a staff that 'I have been cheated into buying the SD14 and should throw it away' in the presence of the other customers.

Perhaps to some, Sigma will always remain as an 'inferior' brand.

SHOULD THROW IT AWAY? Omg, some shop owners really think they know alot, and give stupid comments. Shop owners should be one one giving consumers the correct advices. Shouldnt they?? :dunno:

This is fundamental - never take in what the salesman tells you. The motive is clear - they want you to buy whatever they want that gives them good commission and sales. Well, salesman and lawyers are liars.

Sigma used to be cheap and has lower quality than camera brand lenses. But not today. IMO, Sigma's EX range is as good as any pro-lenses from the camera brand.

These salesman know nuts. And unprofessional to say such a thing.

I dun listen to all their craps. I go do my price survey, get it, test the stuff and pay up and off I go. NEVER take their advices - their advices are extremely biased. Well, for that matter, even in this forum, advices, views, opinion are also biased, based on personal opinion and different taste and different experiences. So, do take whatever you read on the net with a big tablespoon of salt and pepper and chilli padi too.

The Sigma 24-70 f2.8 is tested to be quite abit better than the Canon version. It is on par with the Nikon, but loses out to Carl Zeiss. However, the reviewer mentioned that for the price of the Sigma, he feels that this is a very high quality lens.

ya haha. And considering that its half the price of the other brands' and yet performs just as well (and surpassing Canon's 24-70L), i would say this is a good value for money lens.

Actually I prefer 82 mm diameter, but body length is shorter.

Rather than 77mm diameter but body is too long. More difficult to keep

I generally despised having Sigma lenses due to countless focussing issues. But this one lens is a clear winner! This stays on as my walkabout most of the times..

I got my copy in Singapore... I know of the huge price difference but I wanted the longer warranty and having a chance to test it out properly. So far I managed to find a copy with no bf/ff, and I like the size a lot.
