New sensor for X10 and X-S1 (to fix white orbs)

well over here in vietnam, they sounded pretty confident about doing the sensor replacement free of charge - during sometime in may (towards the end). they just told me to keep my original receipt and warranty card, of course. i'll probably be calling them up every couple of days in the second half of the month to ask if they got the new sensors yet :P but theyre definitely getting it then.

Believe the plan is positive....

Anyone know the new batches is already having the new sensor?

looks like it works to solve the orbs :)

Yeah, only waiting for fujifilm sg to work out a plan to recall the cameras.

tats cool! waiting for more reviews abt the new sensor...hopefully Fujifilm SG will call us real soon

Wah the epic journey to their upper payar lebar office, think about it also sian. :(

I wonder if Fujifilm has put any thought into someway designating whether a camera has the new sensor in it or not via something on the box.

Or perhaps they'll just recall all their old stock.

I just wanna check whether anyone who left their X10 details and contact numbers with the service center has received any news on the sensor replacement situation yet? I last checked with them on 4 May, but they told me to hold on first and wait for a response from Fujifilm Japan. Since then, I haven't received any news from the service center. It's nearing the end of the month soon... :(

I called them last week and was told that the replacement should happen end of May.

End of May and Fuji SG says no news on the sensor... Might not be released yet...

I rather they say they need time to sort out the sensor replacement than no news at all. Sighz

in one of the x10 flickr groups i joined two members indicated (posted today) that they have received email from Fuji UK that the new sensors are in stock
and they will begin the replacement programme. so it might be a few days from now that we will hear from Fuji SG.

i don't mind waiting at least others will get to test the new sensors first then we can decide if we want to continue hehe

Gonna purchase mine from Amazon around mid-September. Hopefully by then all the old stock will have been flushed out of their warehouses.

Those purchased online will not have warranty coverage. It might not be able to have the sensor exchange. Take note.

Hopefully Fuji SG will fix a date so folk don't run out of warranty while waiting for their sensors replaced. No word from them is not appreciated. (but actually, I probably won't go for the swap - as mentioned in thread, installation probably won't be factory-clean)

Um...wat? Everything electronics-wise I've purchased from Amazon ever, from Videogame Consoles to Electric Toothbrushes, have included a manufacturer's warranty. I doubt Fujifilm is somehow the odd man out.

Edit: In fact I'd guess that at least half of the X10's sold are sold online...I doubt Fujifilm has just arbitrarily decided that those aren't covered under their warranty.

I was at Funan just now and checked out a few shops. They don't know if it came with the new sensor.

Call them to confirm first, before buying online.
