New S5 IS

Seems like we are discussing more the dSLRs than the S5.

Anyone has any idea of the expected street price of S5. Considering the list price is $799, will it be in the region of S$740 to $760 inclusive of GST?

I have already placed my order. Not sure when I will get it. I sold my S3 a few months back so I am currently without a decent camera. Keep having to borrow friends' S3 and other cameras. That will finally come to an end.

My friend, you got the camera through special channel, not the normal way, so others can't follow.

Anyway, S5 is selling at $720 nett at Cathay Photo.

Cathay prices tend to be higher than Alan Photo or some other shops rite? Is it better to wait for these shops to accept stocks of the S5IS and buy from them?

Also, will the prices drop say a few weeks more? Pardon me, cos I don't have experiene with the previous models like S2/S3IS... ;p

If I remember correctly, S3 list price when it first came out was $849. Cathay was offering it at $790. AP and MS $760. Some people got it slightly lower. After the initial few weeks during which retailers try to find the correct price to sell, the price did not drop until one year later when Canon dropped the list price, and the free gifts too.

im so confused by TK and J3:16...

TK quoted $700 nett gst added...

J3:16 quoted $730 nett gst added, inclusive of 2GB, travel charger and blaaa(nvr hear properly)... freebies from J3:16 are from Canon or ON top of Canon freebies? :dunno:
