[ New Release 2010.03 ] - E-PL1

It looks good, but...

I would still like if they would also have added a tunnel VF and a pop-up flash.

Pop up flash comes free with this one my friend. ;)

I don't what EVF on top, I want OVF as in optical.

OVF only with the 17mm lens

Is there one? Really? I don't mean the small pocket one, but a real pop-up which can control "R" flashes.

well... The E-PL1 does have a built in pop up flash that can control the "R" flashes

Hmmm... just saw this from the manual

The built-in flash can control up to three flash units independently.

Please take note. :nono:

I was too lazy to read the manual, but I did read the DPReview initial review, lol, shall go download and browse through it :D

Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of not having a mirror and prism assembly if you want an OVF?

You don't need a mirror and a prism to have an OVF,there is a camera known as rangefinder afterall :bsmilie:
Olyflyer has been shooting for many years and I'm pretty sure he has heard of rangefinders

Exactly. An OVF does not necessarily need a prism and a mirror. Even a tunnel type with some parallax is better than none in my opinion. I have a G10 and I use the OVF when there is strong light or when the LCD isn't suitable for use.

The EPL1 should be wat the EP1 is when EP1 came out.

Agreed. The EPL1 seems a much much better camera than the EP1.

Then again...it is never too late to realise your mistakes and correct it.

Oly did admit in one interview that E-P1 was mostly done for the design. then the technical improvements will come in later models

also the current market dictates that they correct/improve faster than previous generations. this "large sensor, compact body "market is still in its infancy and is still up for grabs to anyone. if they let the current E-P1 stay as it is, then if Samsung, Pany, Sony, etc release better spec bodies, they will be left out

Wondering how is the ISO performance as compared to EP1 and 2...

Should be the same as the E-P1 and E-P2,might be better though highly unlikely cause if that is the case, they will overtake the E-P1 and E-P2 in sales and those 2 aren't really old enough to be replaced just yet

Initial reports on the pre-production model showed cleaner image at high ISO. Apparently due to the new image processor.

Think Canon. Digic4 is found in P&S & DSLR but inside P&S its not same as 500D, not same as 50D, not same as 1 series. Thats why only the 1 series give u the 3D pop out look & not any of the lower end series incl 5D2.

TruePic V is like a generic name for the processor, u can tweak lots of things within. Also analogous to Intel Core2Duo processors, can have many iterations under that name

Looking at the samples in Dpreview, the PL-1 looks pretty good. Dun know is it juz me but i feel the details in PL-1 better than Pen 1 & 2. So i must say the next Ep-3 is a little bit more excited in anticipation :bsmilie:
