New photo leaks of OM-D

Will Olympus organise another gathering for preview?

Did I see a tit display for OM-D? :dunno:

Hmm,, was seriously considering this.. But I shoot both video and stills. For video, it's still behind the gh2.. Quite disappointed about that. No 24p no 30p. Mov limit at 29min. Etc.. But looks good otherwise..

It is going to be hard to resist buying this the moment it's available...

Strongly agree with you on this!!!

I want this camera! Still love my GX1, but I want that OM-D!

i must get this camera when it comes out.

this gorgeous babe has
- 1.44 dots evf (with auto sensor switch, something G3 lack off, G1 has this too)
- built in Image stabiliser with 5 axis IS (GX1 and G3 lack off)
- 9 fps(4.2 fps with continuous AF)
- tilted screen
- weather seal (GX1 and G3 lack off)
- olympus colour
- same sensor as GX1 and G3
- more controls for easy fine tuning
- most retro looking m43 camera

I sensed more gadget buff here then photographers.

Talking about innovation. E-M5 is first mirrorless to mimick the old classic design of the golden era of film SLRs in the 70s where most brands top models look very much alike, from the Canon's, Nikon's, Pentax, Carl Zeiss, Leica's and others. Most of the recent introductions were mimicking the old and current RF's design instead. Innovation must also emcompass the whole package, the ultimate pull of customers from across broad segments of the market, from level entry PnS to advanced DSLR enthusiasts and possibly some of the pro segments. The bigger the number, the better will be the average return. Ultimately, whether the E-M5 succeeds or not, one must admit that it has what it takes to be up there with the best and therefore the chances are pretty good. Let's wait for the pre-order numbers to roll.

I suppose reinventing the wheel counts for something.

I have no idea too. Either Leica-envy is in vogue, or something else. Some months ago, people were saying the GH2 was ugly etc. etc., but along comes Olympus with a DSLR-lite and now people are swooning over it. The funniest part is the sensor in the camera was already out for over half a year and Panasonic is in all likelihood getting ready by July-Sept to release a new sensor.

The OM system re-defined 135 format from what Nikon had made it with the F2. It's the 40th anniversary and Olympus are celebrating it. Unfortunately, time has progressed and people's aesthetic sensibility has changed a lot where cameras are concerned.

I think Olympus wanted to bring out the E-M5 as a replacement for the E-3 but they're slow. They've talked long enough about a digital OM-series camera body, so they've sort of done that. The 16 MP sensor will probably have to last 3 years in this body, and Panasonic will probably have two new sensors out shortly.

What Olympus probably did again is buy a **** tonne of 16MP sensors to keep costs down (which is why the E-M5 is relatively inexpensive), but because they bought so many, they will take forever to sell.

Expect in 8 months for plenty of E-M5s to be sold at 2/3 of the sales price, all because they HAD to release an E-M6 or whatever by Christmas.

this is practically true for all cameras that Oly released... this is what i thought of what they did with the previous 12 mp sensors also and why they wont move forward with new sensors at the time.

So if e-m5 performs quite decently, buying it by xmas time will be great.. and the camera will last until another sensor refresh.

Since I can only think of a few more optimizations by the in the upcoming models. Unless they miss the functionality lessons of the previous Pens

After that, for the next generation E-Mx, we will see the typical marketing jargon improved processing of this and that, optimized etc and most likely another stop of higher ISO which compared to the last generation is only a small improvement in noise, but still same sensor.

So i;m buying the E-M5 if street prices agree with budget haha

Made sense... I also think EM5 is right for me to last for many years... Actually, I also think nothing fantastic to improve on liao. What? Maybe 18 frames per second shots??? Haha... Or maybe they integrate 3D sensors to take 3D photos... haha

Haha...Olympus has so few cameras and lenses compared to Canon that I can hardly say that this is true. Also, the prices of Olympus cameras are at most half of Canon, so I think there are probably more photographers here than gadget buffs; photographers who continue to take photos with small cameras with small, noisy sensor, :-), instead of going out to get the best 135 full frame DSLRS or L lenses, to get their photos.
