Vs US$8000 for 1Ds? Which is higher in price? Don't forget that for people like Ian, the value of the lenses itself exceeds US$5k...

If you count, that is only 2 new lenses for specifically digital cams for that range, that you cannot use on any other body. So the only 2 extra lenses for digital backs if you need the range. If you don't need the resolution, isn't this better than even 1Ds in terms of $$$?
I know, a lot of people are upset about the wide angle thing... The trade off is like what you said, you gain the "extension" of the telephoto lenses, 200->300, etcOriginally posted by Ansel
I do have quite a bit of money tied up in Nikkor glass, but not as much as Ian (visible on his avatar) that's is why I am upset about the 1.5 factor. My widest lens the 20mm/2.8 will become a 30mm equivalent lens, not a seriously wide lens by any measure.
OK by watcher's logic, if I factor in the cost of the DX Zoom-Nikkor 12-24mm as part of the entrance cost to DSLR photography, then I am all set as far as wide focal lengths are concerned, and I will even get some bonus super telephotos too from my existing teles. Ummm....new perspective. :what:

Ok here are my predicitons for the new Nikon DSLRs - D2H, faster focussing, faster FPS, bigger buffer, 1.5x CCD, based on F5/100 body. D2X, faster focussing, higher MP, full-frame CCD, based on F5/F100 body & maybe a D200 or D100x with faster focussing, higher MP but still 1.5x CCD. Best of all, all priced under S$9000![]()
