1. PM Pop-up gives member nick and subject.
2. Quick-reply function - no need to go to separate reply page.
3. Hybrid and Threaded views (in addition to traditional) - particularly hybrid view which gives a quick glance at the entire thread.
4. Thread/Post preview - hovering your mouse over a thread/post title gives you the first 300 characters of the thread/post

Feel free to add in new features as you come across them. Also post the not-so-good stuff....

i miss the old ability to just refresh my "New Postings" webpage to generate a search of the threads. now i have to keep clicking "Get New (posts)"...

but i like the 5 quick function buttons on the right (just below the top nav buttons.

How come I see all of the buttons as right arrows?
Are they supposed to be same or different icons?

icons not updated yet.

I like the way I'm able to log in from the top of the page rather than scrolling all the way down.

Thanks! :vhappy:

same sentiments, Ctrl-R seems so easy. :)

BTW good job Forum Admins, hope everything can be back to normal.

can tell me where you download or buy the script for these features? or is it written by someone from CS?

Anyway, Great features esp for quick reply....but i think the "quick reply" icon is too small....new users may not know that they need to click
quickreply.gif
this icon to enable the window below...

hmm....why not just do away the quick reply button to make it less complicated?? just make the quick reply window active at all time lor?

Funny you said that... it actually took me quite some time to figure out where the Quick Reply icon/button is. :embrass:

:D

:Later,

actually the quick reply button also bring you all the way to the buttom of the page so that you no need to scroll down all the way...

why not make the quick reply button bigger and label it properly? and do away with the standard "reply" button for each replies cos there is already a "post reply" button at the bottom of the page.

if the user want to use the full feature, they can still click the post reply button at the bottom or click "advance" under quick reply box

same here..

But its very convenient once you get used to it..for one who does not use alot of smilies all the time..

And in the process help in minimizing bandwidth / network traffic on ClubSNAP Servers.

Kudos for a great idea!

Hmm... sometimes this feature -- which is another great idea -- don't seem to work. For example, when I hover over denizenx's Wts: D1h thread, the preview doesn't show. Same for randomwalk's Sydney people!!! thread etc...

Its all part of vbulletin v3 ... where got time for CS ppl to write these kind of things ?? :D

Will fix the quick reply icon soon (as well as other missing/mis-labelled icons).

We have purposely "forced" users to click on the quick-reply button/icon as it provides a way for the system to track replies in the HYBRID and THREADED views - eg. system assumes that the reply is to be linked to the post in which u clicked quick-reply and reply buttons.

The POST REPLY button at the top-left and bottom-left will append a new post to the end of the thread.

An example (only useful if viewed in HYBRID or THREADED view, LINEAR view will show threads in time order):-

Post 1
-Reply1
-Reply2
-Reply3

if i click on POST REPLY button, it becomes ...

Post 1
-Reply1
-Reply2
-Reply3
-Reply4 -> my new post

if i click on REPLY or quick reply button on Reply2, thread becomes:-

Post 1
-Reply1
-Reply2
--Reply5 -> my new post
-Reply3
-Reply4

if i click on REPLY or quick reply button on Reply5, thread becomes:-

Post 1
-Reply1
-Reply2
--Reply5
---Reply6
-Reply3
-Reply4

I noticed now when posting we can highlight the text and add attributes such as color, size, etc straight away. And even add smilies between text...

Last time I remember I have to cut & paste my text into the dialog box...and worst thing is it will always appear on the last line of the msg, not where it supposed to be...

And perhaps you can put in the list of smilies on the right side of the Quick Reply TEXTAREA tag as well? :D

:Later,

My ego has just confided in me that he misses the Top Posters thingy! ;p

Erm... May I ask where is the POTM thingy? I believe many are looking forward to that and that may just push CS to a higher level!

:Later,
den wouldn't it default the purpose of the actual 'post reply' function?

Yeah ... I love this improvement the most!

If you mean defeat -- instead of default -- then my answer is, I don't think so. The Post Reply have other functionalities (ie, setting of icons, other tags etc) that could make it unique, anyway :D
