Govt always encourages us to take public transport because it's cheaper. (as compared to driving on the roads- with ERP gantries)
Now, the "increase" the bus fares, for some people.
What next? :dunno:
my daily mrt fare has increased after this wonderful thing.
I'm very proud that i am paying 20 cents more per trip when i goes to work everyday.
I want to pay more in fact, look at our ministers, they are so good, so hardworking, i hope i only can pay them more.
Please make me pay $2 more... any rep from MRT here?
but my job is not stable now... so i am sad i won't be able to pay $0.40 more everyday.. i am so sad...
All can say to all recent and some not so recent issues e.g cruel oil drop to US $40, Bus/MRT, town council, GIC are:
Wait for the next general election 2011 or 2012 :nono::nono::nono:
LET THE PEOPLE BE HEARD
No harm in trying. If one or two write in, then it'll probably be ignored but if MANY of us write in then they can't really that anymore right? They wont publish for sure cos they are afraid of the consequence.

Come on guys! Bombard the ST newsdesk with emails about this! Bloody ridiculous that a measure meant to lower costs is ending up increasing costs instead!

How about a poll? Just indicate whether the new distance based fares increase or decrease your daily fares and by how much?
From Bukit Panjang - Bugis by SMRT bus 960 before: $1.41
Now: $1.49
Of the many people I've spoken to, none of them had their bus/MRT fares decreased. How on earth they came up with this MISLEADING 'ONLY 3 in 1 WILL SEE A PRICE INCREASE'?
I guess this change is just a way for them to increase the price of public transport, but they do not have the guts to say it's a price increase.
Is there anywhere we can get this published as a letter in straits times?
Then they will tell you. "public" transport is a private entity so they have to answer to shareholders. Andl how singapore fares is cheaper then other developer countries, etc etc.
And we can all go suck thumb again.![]()
