New Fare by Distance- Cheaper?

every day we do is Pay And Pay and don't know when will this bleeding stop. somebody's coffers are getting bigger by the second while most of us are getting smaller by the day.

my daily mrt fare has increased after this wonderful thing.

I'm very proud that i am paying 20 cents more per trip when i goes to work everyday.

I want to pay more in fact, look at our ministers, they are so good, so hardworking, i hope i only can pay them more.

Please make me pay $2 more... any rep from MRT here?

but my job is not stable now... so i am sad i won't be able to pay $0.40 more everyday.. i am so sad...

Govt always encourages us to take public transport because it's cheaper. (as compared to driving on the roads- with ERP gantries)
Now, the "increase" the bus fares, for some people.

What next? :dunno:

Now is calculate fare by distance... next time will have one smart ass come out an idea of distance/time (the longer distance and time will result u in paying more)

My fare decreased by 1 cent... was $1.95 but now $1.94... Took a bus to mrt and then take a train and transfer to another train. Traveling from North East to West area...

I think most of the people here would face fare increase. SO what can I say? They are all liars!!!!

so.. down 1ct for those who end up with lower fare..

But up 10~20cts for those who end up with higher fares..

So even "IF" there are indeed more pple with lower fares.

Their revenue still increase by a large margin.

All can say to all recent and some not so recent issues e.g cruel oil drop to US $40, Bus/MRT, town council, GIC are:
Wait for the next general election 2011 or 2012 :nono::nono::nono:

LET THE PEOPLE BE HEARD

My fare increased by 11 cents since they introduced this fare by distance thing.

You don't tap out on your way out of the bus. Sure you can pay more.

Does the distance apply to MRT as well? cuz yesterday i took a train from clark quay to dhoby ghaut(1 stop) and i paid about $0.80. how much have i saved? haha...

Before: AMK -> Raffles Place $1.30
After: AMK -> Raffles Place $1.33

It is all fishy when they refuse to tell me what is the "fair" price during the roadshow, stating that price has not been finalised.
There are a lot of people who travel JUST by MRT.
How do they come with only 1 in 4 or only 1 in 3 will see increased price?
Who is the person behind that estimation?

Is there anywhere we can get this published as a letter in straits times?

They wont publish for sure cos they are afraid of the consequence.

if election is going to happen in 2011 or 12, then this , and this thread will be forgoten... and u know what will happen...

anyway i don't know the name of my constituency now... it is all too confusing.... one day it will becomes sentosa!

From Bukit Panjang - Bugis by SMRT bus 960 before: $1.41
Now: $1.49

Of the many people I've spoken to, none of them had their bus/MRT fares decreased. How on earth they came up with this MISLEADING 'ONLY 3 in 1 WILL SEE A PRICE INCREASE'?

I guess this change is just a way for them to increase the price of public transport, but they do not have the guts to say it's a price increase.

No harm in trying. If one or two write in, then it'll probably be ignored but if MANY of us write in then they can't really that anymore right?

Come on guys! Bombard the ST newsdesk with emails about this! Bloody ridiculous that a measure meant to lower costs is ending up increasing costs instead!

How about a poll? Just indicate whether the new distance based fares increase or decrease your daily fares and by how much?

My fare increase 15cents per trip, which makes 30 cents a day and $9 a month, assuming I took the trip 30 days per month.

Then they will tell you. "public" transport is a private entity so they have to answer to shareholders. Andl how singapore fares is cheaper then other developer countries, etc etc.

And we can all go suck thumb again.:o:o:o

precisely!!!! i will never ever believe they will do something to decrease the price.. NEVER!

Remember the story: the old man give 10 fruits per day to the money. 1) 4 in morning, 3 in afternoon. or 2) 3 in morning, 4 in the afternoon...

LPPL...

decrease here, increase there... it is worse than the story, cos the mokey still gets 10 no matter what..

wtf!
