i have a suggestion actually...

instead of having a gathering where we just sit around and talk...(i know it might be awkward for some of us, especially if it's a large group...and i know i'm a shy kind of person)... we can have a mission-based shoot.

meaning to say, we can mock-up a client's brief for a shoot, say, an architectural interior shoot, product shoot, or even fashion shoot... and everybody will get a turn directing and photographing the shoot, while the rest of us can be the assistants.

at the end of the day, we will submit the pictures to an independent panel of judges (eg. Clubsnap members) for critique.


what say you guys?

Hi everyone, this is my first post;p I got a great passion in photography and would like to take this as my career. Now i want to be a PA and slowly learn more.

Would like to ask is there any photographers willing to take a newbie as their assistants? Because from what i read in this thread, most photographers only take PA who are exp and know alot of stuff. If i want to be a PA, will i make it with this :

Age: 23

NS: Completed

Portfolio : None

Experience: None..

Camera: own a canon A85

Hope to get advice from all the experienced people here

i think most photographers would like someone who has a genuine interest in the job, and not just a 'wanna-be', because honestly, the job goes beyond the call of duty and passion sometimes.

if you decide to go into it full-time, treat every experience as a lesson, open your eyes, ears and learn well.

it doesn't matter if you are well-experienced or newbie (everybody has to start somewhere somehow), but must be mentally prepared for what goes on in/before/after a shoot.

it may not be what you might initially envisioned it to be.

Hey i got 2 more questions here. I might be repeating what other have asked, but i think more answer will provide more info for me.

Can i know what is the job scope of PA? Cos i don't want to blindly go in and in the end don't know what to do and cause the photographer trouble.

About how much does a PA gets?

U may want to consider looking for Azure as he's often on the lookout for good PAs.
He doesn't mind inexperienced people, just people with good attitude and mentality. In fact, at times, he prefer people without any experience as they will not have any preset biases or working mindset from their previous experiences.
