Hi,

Wonder is there anyone familiar with IIIF and can help me on this. I just brought a used IIIF w/timer. I managed to download a copy of the manual from the internet. I notice that there is a lever below the rewinding knob. According to the manual, this lever is for eyepiece adjustment. How do I adjust it?:dunno: Don't really understand the procedure even after reading through several times. Anyone knows?

Thanks

Look through the small focusing window at the back of the IIIf (the one on the left; the other one on the right is for framing), you should see two images. If the images appear fuzzy, you can turn that lever which you mentioned until you get clear images. It's basically diopter adjustment.

Hi YOL,

Thanks for your quick reply:lovegrin:
Can I adjust without any lens mounted on? (I don't have any lens to try on at the moment, still looking around for one)
If adjustment needs to have the lens mounted on , then should I set it to focus at infinity?

No need to attach any lens to do this diopter adjustment. You can always turn the lever to get TWO clear images of anything that you aim your camera at.

When you do attach a lens however, by turing the focusing ring on your lens, these two images will ultimately align (merge into one image). This is how you focus on a IIIf.

yes. it is not coupled therefore you can adjust it with or without lens on. A diopter adjustment for aging rf folk like the Zorki 4. To me it seems like a magnifier of the VF.

Anyway, left side to focus, right side to frame. Frameline is standard fixed 5cm only. So any other length must use external vf.

have fun!

I got the Zorki too. I dont think there is any "framelines", just "frame". Just love the cam.

Thanks.

Can't wait to put a roll of film through :p But in the meantime, need to look for a good used (No choice, tight on budget:bsmilie:) lens.

If the IIIF is like the Zorki, I believe it is because the Zorki is really a copy of it, you may experience some difficulty in loading the film. You may have to trim off the film to provide a longer "threader" to facilitate loading.

I have a roll of exposed film. Will use that to practise loading...:bsmilie:

yes yes.. so technical. ok no "framelines", only "frames". but you get the picture.

of course we all know Zorki mimics Leica. and one does not need a longer threader to help in the loading. Just ensure your spool is tight thats all.

Thinking of getting the Color-Skopar 50mm/f2.5. The price for a used one is within my budget. What is your view on this lens?

Save a little more and get a Leica lens lah. Elmar 5cm, 3.5cm, Summitar, or even summar. All quite cheap these days ($500-ish)

OK, that's just me. YMMV.
