Need help . Important.

Just to check, when you mix a certain developer, you have to check the box for what temperateness water to mix it with right? But during development you have to maintain the developers at 20 degrees and the fixer must be the same temperature as well? throughtout the whole process?

If u are using ilfotec ddx from ruby, you can mix it at room temperature, but during development it need to be 20 degree.

Only developer is temp sensitive.

Stop bath, fixer, hypo clear, wetting agent all room temperature can do.

Thanks! Cause i have goy some weird developer and fixer thats nt in massivr dev so just to sure

Thanks ! i will get those stuff tomorrow & try out . will update if it success !

I'm having trouble making water temperature raise up . I use my cold water from my fridge and i have been waiting for 1hr 30 minutes already. the temperature is still at 15 degree . Continue to wait or what ? i wanna to know how to make the water heat up faster. I have trouble cooling down tap water also . the temp for tap is 27 degree . and i use ice pack and put lots of ice in a basin of water and i added salt . but the temperature goes down very slowly , can i put the developer in the fridge ? to cool the wateR ?

I usually develop my film in around 18-20 degree as the temperature will rise up a bit during developing. The chemical and films nowaday are more tolerant. Even the so call strict E6 developing, I developed at 38 - 40 degree without very precise timing as well without any issue. No loss of detail even at very low shadow.

If you are using fresh developer, what I can suggest you is to cool the water with some ice to around 16 degree, then mix with developer, it will get around 18 - 21 degree and you can start your developing already.

I have success ! just finish about 5minutes ago . so happy . now waiting for it to dry . I wanna know that the negative film should not be sticky right ? and i have stop bath . it's say 1/19 dilute. so thats mean i must put 25ml/475ml watER ?

So now i have the negative , if i want to scan images myself , do i need a film scanner or just flatbed scanner . i currently have Canon LiDe 210 scanner with no film scanning function .

maybe u try getting that printed on paper. this is to identify whether it is negative problem or scanning problem

If is negative problem then whatmust i do?

Firstly, use a loupe to check your negative to see any issue with the film. It might be a scanner issue. Whether you are doing scanning or printing, it is advisable to check your film with a loupe.

It seems like there are quite a lot of dust and stuff on your film as well. So before you try anything, wash your film in the tank with a few drop of dish washing detergent like mama lemon. (They can act as wetting agent) Just 2 to 3 drop and stir till a bit of bubble. Then dip the film in the tank, you can spool it into the reel and dip it in and out a few time. Then shake off excessive water hard and hang it in your bathroom or somewhere clean till dry. Once confirm dry, then check your films with a loupe.

So you mean after fixer , i put few drops of mama lemon and agitate till bubble ?

After fixing, wash your film with lots of water. Some of those chemical are very hard to wash off and as such, you will need to wash it with a lot of water. After washing, fill the tank with clean water from tap and add a few drop of mama lemon. Then agitate it by dipping it up and down in the water for around 20 sec. Take it out and shake off excessive water. Take out film from spool and dry. I am late to notice, but your idea of sticky film might means the film isn't washed cleanly off any fixer.

An alternative (lazy) way I tried may save some water. Initially I will wash the negative inside the dev tank with the lid open. I pull the center column up and down with the reels attached with water continuously flowing into it for 3-5 min. Then would be to leave the reel in a basin (3-4 L ones) full of water and soak in intervals of 15min with for 2 -3 time with fresh water each change. This will be longer but saves some water.

You can also look for hypo-clearing agent to speed up the washing process as the fixer will leave the negative faster and reduce subsequent washing time.

Adding wetting agent or mama lemon as recommended by wootsk is very useful. It significantly reduces water marks on negatives.

Shake thoroughly before hang dry to dissipate the big water droplets. Big droplets can leave watermark after drying

Hi , i'm starting out to use films to shoot .

Would really want to know how to develop my own picture. (Black and white)

Can any experience self-develop people out there help me out ?

I went to ruby today & i ask the uncle there if they could teach me , they say yes but it cost 150 plus for everything , include dark bag, thermometer , chemical , tank.

Would like to know how much for item that is needed to develop own Black and white & what are the items.

I read about ilford b&w films it's wrote develop in 24 degree . what it mean ? how do i get the temperature to 24 degree?

need help .

thanks .

hmm just get started...once u start u will understand more...reading n reading..wont help u much...best if you can find someone to show u how to develop the first roll..pretty easy...start with easy to use developer like tmax developer..mix 1 to 4 and u r good to go le..

im guessing is the developer never mix correctly or u over develop...temperature v important....

I am guessing it is a fixer issue. But I don't think it is right to come to conclusion before examining the negative. I am just waiting for result from TS.
