Need Advice On My Next Lens Build.

Oh. Sorry, I was referring to 17-50 Sigma or Tamron.. PS.. Maybe i will just get a non-IS version first then save up another 2k+ to upgrade to the IS version..

Better idea than buying and selling the 18-135. The L should hold it's value much better.

Ah... The 17-55 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8... Beautiful...

And damn poisonous!

Sold my 17-55 in anticipation for FF... And I also kinda chose the 24-105 over it due to the longer reach... More useful as a walkabout... But the 17-55 was missed from time to time...

Just a reminder. If you buy from dd electronics which offers lower price but you have to notice that that lens is grey set and it has risk to a certain extent.Just my 2c

Same situation as me...haha, that's why I asked.

I personally feel that the 24-105 f4L produces better colours than the 17-55, and the bokeh seems better than the 17-55. Love it to the bits. The only situation I found that the 24-105 is lacking is when photographing indoor events, like runway fashion show. Other than that, there is no issue when taking group photos, which many people have said it is not wide enough. At least not for me. My legs not that heavy, just move a couple of steps back can already. Output is amazing. My old 17-55 is sharp, but I thought this 24-105 f4L is even sharper....well I am not pro, just a hobbyist, so maybe my eyes not as sharp as the pros. But I just want to give TS another option which you can try to see if you like it. This is my real life experience...

As for the 18-135...please forget about it. If it is ever on your mind, then I suggest you look at 3rd party f2.8 lens at around the same price. I used it for 2-3 months, and have cursed and swear unlimited times due to the output. I stress again I am not a pro, so TS you may ignore what I have mentioned here...

Bro, people just open a big big shop in down town, they have a reputation to keep one leh.... I believe you never deal with them before, that's why you say that. Cannot compare them to the Sim Lim and Lucky Plaza shops.

For me, when I buy lens from them, I don't even bring my camera to test. You know why??? Because I can test for as long as I like at home, in Sentosa, in MBS for 1 full month. If anything wrong, just bring the lens back to them, 1 to 1 exchange for a brand new one....tried, tested and proven...

Since you have the 55-250, why do you need the 70-200 ?
Tripods, get the fancier 6662A for around $68 ( Tago Tech)

I would suggest that you head straight for the f2.8 glass and skip the 18-135

Just my two cents, but i would do that if i were you.

yes, i agree with you here... you can consider a tamron or sigma 17-50... if you can afford it, get the sigma's version...

Ok. I will get that lens online from HK.. Can save $$ from there.

Hi, which online shop from HK would that be? Can share?

-Agree with evil, get Sigma 17-50 than the Tamron for Sigma HSM. Conventional noisy slow motor...

-Sell your 55-250 for the 70-200, f4 or f2.8 depends on your budget/needs/size/traveling alot with it?

-After awhile, you find that your 17-50 bokeh is not bokeh enough, then u get the Sigma 30.

Got a Benro sales thread in Mass Sales, can use it for price comparison. Their shop got alot of Benros to try out.

Happy BBB

if you're planning to upgrade your 55~250

i would suggest that you upgrade it to something with IS, OR, with a wider aperture
i was using my friend's 70~200 F4 L non-IS indoors for a event, alot of the shots turn out to be blur due to handshake (200mm at 1/60)....i switched back to my very own non-L 55~250, and this resulted in more usable shots

if you want to upgrade your 55~250
either go directly to the 70~200 F2.8 L IS II
or the 70~200 F4L IS

just my two cents

-get sigma 17-50 2.8 OS HSM (or tamron 17-50 non VC)
-get a used 70-200 2.8 (canon or sigma, IS or no IS, doesnt
matter. they will all be better than 55-250 in terms of speed)
-get a flash (430ex2/580ex2),
-get at least 1 F1.4prime like sigma 30 1.4 or 50 1.4 (canon or sigma)

Ok la.. I think i have made up my mind! I will get Sigma 30 f/1.4 first, then 17-50 and finally 70-200 f/2.8 IS.. but i think i will also get a Nissin Di866 in between..
