BAR Gunners are responsible for providing the base suppressing fire in both attack and defense during combat. He's the twelve-man squad's "mobile firepower". The average combat lifespan of a World War II BAR man was estimated to be 30 minutes as they are the "priority" targets to be "taken down" by the enemies in a fire fight.

In the system-specific allotment if duties, each member of the crew is dependent on the other for all to survive a tank duel together. The British tank designers at this stage had still not learned the lessons from previous cruiser tank designs - that tank crews need to get out of tanks fast if they catch fire. The crew escape hatches were too tight and difficult to use. They were too much of a tight fit with the inside of the tank stowed with rations, equipment and clothes, with every spare bit of space crammed with ammunition. Many British tank crews would burn to death because of the simple error.

"Providing some of the armour support during the Normandy campaign was one of Britain's best tanks and finest armoured divisions. Our latest fighting vehicle is a Cromwell Mk IV of the Welsh Guards of the Guards Armoured Division. Although this division did not land until D. Day +11 it took part in some of the heaviest fighting in the Normandy "bocage" and saw almost continuous action until the German surrender in May 1945. Our model comes with two crew figures and a detachable "back pack" of extra supplies."

The Cromwell tank was one of a series of battle tanks put into service by Britain and the most successful in the Second World War. There were over 4,000 units built. The tank was named for Oliver Cromwell, the English Civil War leader.

The Cromwell tank’s first action was in June 1944 at the Battle of Normandy. The tank was acclaimed for its speed and dependability, while its low profile made it a very hard target to hit.

A significant disadvantage was the inability of the Cromwell tank to mount the latest 75mm High-Velocity cannon. The standard 75mm gun was successful against the majority of the German armored vehicles but had much difficulty penetrating the front of the heavily armored German tanks like the Tiger or King Tiger tank.

The Battle of Caen was fought from June 6, to July 20, 1944, during World War 2. Though originally a D-Day objective, it took Allied forces around seven weeks to finally liberate the city from the Germans. Due to the ferocity of the fighting, much of Caen was destroyed and had to be rebuilt after the war.

In this battle for Caen the British suffered 3,474 casualties and lost 314 tanks. It is called by some historians as ‘the largest tank battle in British Army’s history’.
