Thanks for sharing fengwei. Great shots as usual, like those people series especially. See that you met a lot of friendly people there and they let you take shots so willingly. This is the first time i see Crucifixion and it looks horrible to me.

Thank you too, and glad you like them. I like those people shots too. As to the Crucifixion, I'd never go and see it again. It's nothing like the Thaipusam at all ...

Lovely shots. I'd always love your children shots. Thanks for sharing

Thanks. I love kids, and love to take their photos too too ;)

The old man in B/W is very nice.

Thanks. If you are interested, here I have a colored version of him:

Did he have a outbreak of chickenpox or a severe case of mozzy bites.

Thanks for sharing.

On my screen the pics of terrace cultivation appear a bit oversaturated. izzit my screen?

Thanks :) Just like slacker said, those are blood stains, he got them 'cause he walk around those devotees (of crucifixion).

My monitor hasn't been caliborated for a while, but those rice terraces are really very green, greener than the grass we saw here ;)

nice shots feng wei.
How did you manage to get so many people to pose for you...?
When I walk the street in singapore, I get so paiseh even to try and take a pic of someone unawares..

Thanks :) Most people there are very friendly, and normally I'd ask for permission to take their photos. And if they are not interested, I'd take a quick snap, then show them their photos right away. They'd pose for me again with a better looking face :bsmilie: This works the best for kids ;)

Very nice.

I m impressed, the girls are so beautiful much better than I thought.

Looks the Sigma 17-70 performs good as well.

Thanks Bro. Some girls are very pretty indeed, prettier than I expected :)

And the Sigma 1770 is a great lens, I'm keeping mine (and just sold a couple of Pentax zoomies in similar focal range).

great set :) i see you've been to mount pinatubo and banawe rice terraces. great shots!

Hey, you do know that place, don't ya ;) Yes, we went to the Pinatubo MT for the vocano lake, and up north for the rice terraces. A very beautiful country w/ a lot of beautiful people. Just wish we had more time there so we could go to some nice beaches ...

all done by 17-70? all shot in raw format?

Most photos were taken by the 1770 lens, especially the people photos. Some photos are in RAW but most of them in jpg :)

Dude, awesome shots. I love the shots of the kids living in the area.

For some reason I really like this particular shot.

That's very nice :) A very beautiful place indeed.

The weather wasn't really good when we reached the crater, too much clouds. Here are some more from the lake:

Thinking for K10D + 18-55 kit lens.
For new commer, should i take Sigma 1770 instead of kit lens.
BTW, my budget is also tide.

any how, thanks for sharing nice photos.

Luckily in Singapore we can buy the K10D body alone for a very good price, only around $1200 nowadays  The kit lens isn't cheap here, and the Sigma 1770 is a better lens overall (wider focal range, faster, sharper, better close-up or macro, better built...), and you can get this one at some shop for slightly over $500. Really worth it imo.

If you ask my suggestion, I'd say go w/ the K10D body plus the Sigma1770, then you'd have a great start. Later on you can add a DA50-200 or Sigma 70-300. That's all you need for most use.

Good luck.

HI Feng wei,
Just off topic...which is better? The 17-70 or 18-50? The 18-50 has constant f2.8 but cost over $600 while the 17-70 is slower but cheaper than $600...
cheers

It's hard to tell, all depends on what you need, the speed, or the wider range. I don't have much use of a faster zoom lens 'cause I use much faster prime lenses mostly. So to me, 1770 is a better lens (for travel and walkaround).

oh yeah! i wanted to go back to the philippines to observe holy week but no time though.

Your pix showed me the stuffs that i'd be seeing there. Nice shots! I really love the pinatubo lake shots.

That's cool! Hope you'd be able to take a week of during the holy week some year soon :)

And thanks for looking at these photos. I wish the weather was better during our trekk to the Pinatubo Mt ...
