Expose correctly for one frame at 30 secs, manual mode.
Set camera to continuous mode.
Use a remote wired trigger to hold the shutter.
Merge together in PS using "lighten" blending.

This is my favourite of the whole series. I like the contrast between the background (sky), the shadowed ridges in the middle and the buildings in the foreground. The star trails shot is brilliantly done too

That foto is taken during sunset. Sunsets high up in the mountains turn everything orange. The ground is shadowed by another mountain, the dark areas on the mountain is shadowed by clouds.
