NEW SERIES - PARIS, FRANCE

#1 France , Effiel Tower
After Africa continent, I took respite in Paris, visiting some friends and replenishing my body with lots of vegetables and fruits (very much lacking in West africa) I know Effiel tower has been photographed a million times, here is my take on this monument in my favourite city of the world

Just a small suggestion on my part. Perhaps you could leave more space at the top of the tower :)

Hello,
I want to say "you are my inspiration! Da Jie"! hahaha..
What is admirable is that you actually sleep in what we normally would consider "dangerous" places like rooftops etc. (especially for ladies ?!)

I second: holidays always left me with post travel depression. I cant get enough of it.
Though I have only worked for 3.5 years now, I can't wait to do exactly what you have done, go on RTW trip for >= 1 yr, exploring & shooting. (I mean I set this as a goal around 30-35)
I'm sure the feeling is liberating!

So I don't think it is so serious like "sinner" but rather you have your own priorities & you deserve your well-earned break !
Cheers~!

Hey coolthought,
I think some people around me think i am a sinner for squadering my money on travelling and found an excuse to Bum around for 2 years
My motivation - I love travelling! (lots) but all those rushed 14-18days holidays always left me with post travel depression. I cant get enough of it. At the same time, being with the company for 10 years with money being the only motivator, I was slowly but surely losing drive for the job I used to love.
I found it hard to let it go , the security of the job and the pleasures a 5 figure income brought me.. but yet I feel i was drying up day by day. I asked for a 12 months sabbatical from company so that I can have the best of both worlds but a asian company usually not in favour of such request - so i have to say goodbye to my job. Its a choice.

Why Did I choose to travel so cheaply? It is a long trip and I have a budget of $40k-45k. I could have splurge and travel lesser but then again , I made the choice. Lastly, I really wanted to explore the different cultures out there, the lives of the another world that we have an inkling of but no idea how it is to live it.
whenever i have the chance, I eat like they do,whatever they serve me or in scary attap restaurants which has locals but no travellers wants to go into I travel around like the locals do- if they take a 3 days boatride to timbuktu,(their home) I will do the same instead of taking a 45 mins flight there. I sleep the same way as them too when I get the chance, in the courtyard with their goats and chickens.

it is not a problem to list down the countries but only an estimated of time spent. Reason being after 2 months, I stopped looking at my watch and no longer keep track of days. In the beginning, I was more "on the ball" but later I simply indulge in the freedom of time. i have never felt so free before. If I like the place, i stay and i staaaay.
If i dont or I am done with the place, I leave

Anyway, here goes

South Africa (Jo'burg, Port Elizabeth, Kruger park, Cape town)
Mozambique ( Maputo, Tofu)
Namibia ( Windhoek, Oranjemund, Swakopmund, Fish canyon)

I cant believe I missed out some countries that I've been too... 7 months and my memories are fading. Thanks for making me write this down.

Hi Pupuce,

Looked through all 26 pages of this thread yesterday and I'm absolutely floored by your travels. I'm interested in your African safari travels as I hope to go for one in the future. May I know if you did a local tour for the African safari (Serengenti)? If so, how did you go about doing it?

Just a small suggestion on my part. Perhaps you could leave more space at the top of the tower :)

Thanks Gnohz for the advice. I see what you mean and felt the same way that the space is a little too tight.
I caught this shot while I was in a moving car and I remember my friend keep telling me "sit down, dont stick your head out" LOL

I dont know why but like the feel of the 2 trains coming from opposite directions and somehow Effiel Tower is set in a day-to-day life rather than just a tourist spot

But I will remember this for other future shots..Please feel free to critic whenever is neccessary so I can do better.

Hello Blackpeace,
For Most safaris and tours, I arrived in the country/city and then start searching for a tour to join. There are usually plenty to choose from as tourism is a biggest economy contributor. it pays to make some enquries and comparisons, after that, it is keeping your fingers crossed and hoep for the best as it is a hit and miss thing. Sometimes I meet travellers coming from the opposite directions and most will gladly give referrals or warn you to stay away. :)

always make sure you go tour company direct, this minus out the middle man from making a cut from you as well.
Serengeti and norongoro crater are amazing safaris, one of the best in comparison with the 4-5 safaris I did through the South and East Africa. Only one thing, the lions are so used to the 4x4 coming that they dont even react to it.

There was one lion which was sound asleep that he didnt even budge at all when we drove near him and parked 1 meter from him as we had our lunch box..LOL

#3 Italy - Milan, Duomo De Milano

Hello pupuce, I want to come onto your thread and say to you this: The way you are travelling is what I would call REAL travelling. And what you have done and are still doing, would be many many people's dream, but not many people's reality for only very few can truly afford to let go, both financially and courage-wise, to have the space and freedom to travel thus.
Congratulations to you, pupuce, for a most wonderful presentation and for bringing us in the forum on a round the world trip!
 !

La Bolla (or the Bubble) is a huge glass sphere, now a greenhouse for plants typical of a rain forest. It is on a floating platform beside the aquarium.

This is my favourite city of Italy

It's always interesting to get a different perspective on something that has been widely photographed! :D
I didn't notice the 2 trains until you mentioned it. Another suggestion is, maybe you could place the trains one-third (or around there) up into the image. It's too low in the image to catch the attention of viewers like me :p
