Need advice again...

I realise that when taking indoor photos,
I will need to use the flash.

If using auto mode, definitely no problem... just pop up the flash, and snap. I think the flash light intensity, they will auto adjust.

But when I am using manual function, I have difficulties judging the amount of flash to use.
As we can set the flash to 3 different 'power'
and when we half tap, the image shown is not what we will get. sometimes overexpose, sometimes under exposed. quite fed up with taking indoors (or generally taking photos using the flash).

any experts here have any tips, or advice to share with me how u play with the flash pls.

And last question, is it really worth it to invest in a 430ex?
this 430ex can be used on EOS DSLR in future right?

I rarely use in the in-built flash.

I use the 430EX most of the time. It has a distance calculator on it so it's smart enuff to fire off the right amount of flash needed.

Its a "good to have" item if u regularly take low-light indoor shots.

Can I check, the distance calculator is it will calculate on its own?
for eg, I using MF mode,
then with the 430ex attached, it will just fire off, calculating on its own the amount of light needed? or i need to set again?

and what batteries is it using?
sharing with the S5 or have its own battery?

The 430EX will calculate and fire off in auto mode. U dun need to set anything, just switch on the flash and start shooting away. There's also a manual mode for you to play with it also.

430EX uses saperate 4 AA batts to operate.

Sorry, the 430EX auto mode, is the 430 right? not the S5 right?

Not-as-sharp pics can be the cause of several factors such as slow shutter speed, thus causing handshake or incorrect focus.

If you are taking pictures using a tripod, be sure to switch off the "IS".

me also getting not so good result for night shots. with tripod, with ISO 80 and not using flash, pix comes out grainy too. Even worst if CPL is fix on it.

1 question, I'm thinking of bringing my future camera ( probably an S5 ). Are there any lenses that are important to prevent dirt or any contaminents from getting into the camera?

compact cameras dun have interchangeable lenses where dust can land on the sensor what.

The replacement wont be anytime soon I guess. Even if it reveals soon, at most there'll be extra megapixels and a couple more upgrades for quite a price (maybe $800 or more). The S5 now is more than sufficient for a prosumer. CHDK is an extra help too.
