It's common mah, so are the same with Manfrottos unless u buy the cheap ones.

There are some third party units out there that support e-TTL. Not to sure of the names though.

I got my S5 IS at end of Nov last yr n Im enjoying taking pictures wif it...
I see dat some of U are quite good wif the camera n some got good knowledge bout S5, accessories n photography generally...
I hope to learn from this specific S5 thread n Im sure I'll be posting replies here alot...

Well i guess its always betta to get some comments abt the pic u took so as to improve on ur shots in the future.

Like u, i too bought my S5IS juz last month and likewise, im enjoying those shots as I speak. Thou its not as gd as the old timers here (clearly i lack the skill, knowledge etc on photography), at least i'm taking those shots tat have pictures which in time to come will be really precious.

I will share my photos soon too..

I am still a newbie.. but from wad u say u want, den its the tele-converter lens tat u'll wanna get for urself. Wide lens is used more for landscape, nature, group photos etc (best use for CNY).

Juz my 0.002cents worth!

You would be looking for a macro lens if you want to zoom in on the bug. Do you have a budget in mind?

There are a few different ones you can look at:

Hoya: +2,+4
Cheapest of the lot, has CA and distortions on the edges

Canon: 250D, 500D; Nikon: 4T, 5T, 6T

Raynox: DCR-250, DCR-5320PRO
Most expensive, seems to give the best quality though.

What is the latest price now for S5 IS? Is it good timing to get a S5 IS now? Any replacement model coming in the next 2 or 3 months?

I am not urgently needs a new cam but maybe making a trip to China mid of April, so hopefully can get ready a nice cam to bring along.

There should be a new replacement model this year but have not been announced yet. Current price for S5 IS is around $500+.

Canon's price is always more expensive than other shops, unless u're buying it from airport duty-free shops which are a lot more expensive.
