I totally agree. I've spent a lot of $ trying different brands. Eneloop is the only one that I'm very happy with so far. I got it from Eastgear @ $10 for 2, the cheapest I know so far. Anyone know any place selling cheaper than this?

I just bought Powerex (Imedion) from Eastgear too ($20 fror 4), suppose to be able to hold charge for a year. Will try out and let you all know if it's good.

Where is East Gear?? :dunno:
I may need to buy with charger..
Can other brand charger charge eneloop batt??
I'm havin a GP recyclo & verta charger..

Check out their website http://www.eastgear.com
It's somewhere near Lavendar Mrt. I was told the batt. can be charged with other brand's charger as long as it can charge up to 2700mAh. Eneloop is 2000mAh. Dun know if it's true leh.

I bought 430 EX grey from OP. $420 nett. Cash price. Most shops selling local sets at $450-460 range.

If u wan absolute cheapest, get from B&S section. Saw a few going for under $400.

Hi Coolsigg,

Just want to check what do you mean by local set? What's the difference?

Have anyone tried Energiser Rechargable Bat? I just saw Carrefore sellng $81 for the charger and 4 AA rechargable bat. Charge time only 15mins. Dun know can last long or not...

Local warranty is warranty from Canon. Grey ones are usually warranty from the shop itself.

one thing good about this 5S is, you don't have to bring your charger when going overseas... can always AA batteries wherever you go... unlike DSLR, you have no other choice but to bring charger & even extra batteries when going overseas..

i had lots of people asking stuff like what's the dif between ur cam and the SLR or dSlR? I know that both of those r better but find myself in a lost of words of why or how better, what do u guys think.

The main differences between prosumer/compact cams is the ability to change lenses in the SLR/DSLR and the reflex mirror too, that's why the name 'Single Lens Reflex'.

Another difference is that you have a 36-432 mm F2.7 - F3.5 lens in a single package. Such a lens on a SLR will cost a fortune and be huge.

Sensor noise on the other hand....

True, but DSLR image qualities are usually more outstanding than prosumers due to lens constructions and functions.

caused by the low noise in high iso, right? anyway just wanna know, when i switch my S5 to sports mode there is a strange sound coming from the camera, quite soft, but quird-dose ur S5 made such noises at sports mode?

Main thing to get a dSLR is for their low noise. One reason why I have yet to get one is that you do tend to pay for the good glass. Will go broke getting all the fast lenses with good colour reproduction.

Off topic: Have you tried the Zeiss 135mm F1.8 for the Sony?

Yes, low noise in higher ISO.

That might be the auto focus. Think it is set to continuous, so it hunts as you move the camera. Never tried any of the scene modes, so not to sure.

I've not used those scene modes at all cos all the time i'm either at Av or M, similar for DSLR.

Haven't tried any Zeiss lens for the Sony Alpha, only tried Leica. ;p

Mine definitely is and so are all my other Canon equipment. I don't settle anything for less than Made in Japan though i heard got some S5s are made in China.

curious why it must be mij only?

I've to disappoint u too tks, the truth is the S5 is a prosumer cam.

prosumer or not what does it matter - it's not the equipment that makes the final picture - it's how you use it that makes the shot... if you know what you are doing and aiming for...

btw i got mine at $650 with GST in Aug but no freebies (don't need them)

$149 saved (then at Aug package prices) bought an 8GB SD card and still below most prices of $700+ with "freebies" - best part is with a 8GB card hardly need to open the slightly filmsy battery compartment hatch to change SD card - do so only to change battery...

so far the shots are great

oh and mine was not made in Africa or Timbuktu or in China but in Japan - but hey even if it was no big deal as any patient skilled photographer can still get the shot that he or she wants with almost any camera :)

Gd for u then...for me my 4GB one is more than enough as it's my secondary camera. Yes the shots are great but when taking shots at the tele-end, purple-fringing seems a bit prominent.
