after trying your S5 IS, what are its ups and downs? and where did you buy it from+how much was it? i am aiming at buying one too.
eager to know more about this camera, i hope to get on hands soon.
thanks in advance!

I really like the one-touch video recording button and the good battery life ...

Downs would be the not so wide (35mm equiv) wide angle lens and the less vibrant colour (when compared to my older fujifilm).

S5's colour is still ok. Wide-angle wise, i buy the wide-conversion lens so it's wide enough for general streets and landscapes.

I just cant wait anymore once I knew MScolor is nearby my working place..

I bot it this afternoon lunch hour, paid 710 (heart pain:cry: )for it with canon standard package (1 x Scan disk 2G SD card, 4 GP2300mah rechargetable batts with charger) in MScolor, AMK hub..Just the digital bag kit is KIV now..

This is my 1st bot dc..previous canon IXUSi (SD10) was just death last saturday which was a present from a fren.. I like e S5IS look and like the feeling when hold it..

I played S5 in courts and saw that S5 is MIC....lucky me get a MIJ...happi now

Ths justin and bosty for the tips,

I got it..Now waiting the kit bag...hope can get it tmr..

I will not go COMEX...I feel headache when I see lot ppl...

buy at COMEX not necessarily cheaper leh. the last time i went down to check out the S3IS at the dec06 fair (many months after release) and it was still selling at the RRP! the camera shops at funan/simlim can sell you cheaper ;)

I didn't buy a pouch for my S5. The free camera kit bag provided is just about the right size for the camera.

As for the other questions, I dunno how to answer. Must wait for the pros. haha.

is more intimidating den one dude w/ giant lenses. hehe

the price hasn't really decreased much.

emirates, I have mine for about 2 months. Coming from olympus C750, I'm Very happy with the canon S5, as it is really a big upgrade, to me.
Good points:
1. Speedy operation overall, start up very fast, auto-focus fast, short shutter lag. (Of course cannot compare with DSLR)
2. Performance of auto focus under dim light condition is pretty good.
3. Image stabilizer of the S5 is fantastic. Sometimes, I could get a reasonably sharp picture at 1/4 sec.
4. Power consumption is reasonably low. Can take more than 400 shorts at one full charge.
5. Good image quality (subjective)

Not so good points:
1. Noise appears when set ISO higher than 100, though ISO200 is still quite acceptable (This is common to most P&S camera).
2. Not so compact. (But with the adapter fitted, it gives me some kind of SLR feel.)

Just some of my 2cents opinions.
HTH.

Some of them are with add-on lense/filter.

Hi kero89, in Flickr, you can click the "More properties" option on the right of photo page to see the exif data of each shot.

Can't really remember, but from the data, the shot that you have commented was done at full zoom (12X).

Yes I did.

I think the S5 perform quite well in night shot taking.

Have not try fireworks yet.

As a S3 IS user, I must say that S5 picture quality is much superior than predecessor, especially the LCD which is larger and sharp.
One addition tip: using AA Lithium battery will really reduce camera weight and power is lasting.

I think rechargeables are the top choice for the S5.
